You are activating the widgets, just click in the middle of the screen and it will bring back the main screen. Also familiarize yourself with the Systems Preferences accessible from the Apple menu on the top Left. :) |

Apple menu (upper left hand corner of the screen)
System Preferences
Keyboard and mouse
turn off anything that says dashboard in there
click on show all
dashboard and expose
turn off anything that says dashboard there as well
although why you would want to do this is beyond me - dashboard is rad! But... there ya go

Just remember, if you're using a mouse, there is no right-click function like in Windows. The lack of a right-click was disorienting when I used an Apple at school. :) |
Huh? The Mac OS has supported right click ever since mice were made having two buttons. Apple held out for a long time offering a two button mouse of their own, but the Mac OS is fully right-click enabled. |
Well the mouse I used at school in 2003 had one button. Kinda hard to right or left-click with only one button :) |
Any two button USB mouse works in MAC OS - right click and everything. If you still only have the one button mouse and you want to right click, hold down ctrl+mouse click, then the right click menu pops right up.

I got a 20" IMac in August, but I'm still using my PC for work related stuff. Then, this week, the hard-drive on the PC gave out. That was a mess.
Anyway - LOVE THE MAC! |

On Friday my PC (at work) crashed and needed a re-boot three times! I've have my iBook for nearly three years and have re-booted 0-NEVER-NADA times.

I have a 20" iMac about a year old. I love it. It is my first mac and I am sure my next computer will be a mac as well.
However, in the year I've had it, I have replaced the hard drive, memory, screen, keyboard, main mother board -- all under warranty (but not without headaches). The power supply and stand are the only original parts of the computer.
After all that, I suppose I would feel differently if Apple hadn't stood behind their warranty.

It is CALLED surfing the internet. DOesn't mean you can actually use your computer to surf. :)
I can see replacing hard drive and memory (bigger and faster) but what did you do to the screen, keyboard and mother board?
Reminds me....I have to look into seeing if my G5 can get the new Intel chip.
