TODAY WAS SOOOOO AWESOME!!!! I feel sooooo lucky to live in such a beautiful and vibrant place. Today was the Roxy World Champs for Longboard Surfing. The event took place less than 10 miles from my front door!!! I'm not quite cool enough to have a lens like this...

... so I wasn't able to capture many action surf shots. However, the opportunites for capturing the essence of surf culture and beach life were endless. I did my very best to bring a little bit of California sunshine to the screen for ya!! hehe pLeAsE enjoy!!

I knew there was a reason I picked you as one of my favorites. :-)

Like you, I live in a beach community (just up the coast from you). In fact, it's the "Surf City USA".

Anyway, did you use your 55-200 lens for all those shots? Or did you switch out at all today?

i used the 55-200 for everything except for the one of the photographer on the ladder :) :) :)

Some very cool work Shannon. I reall like the one of the little boy with the white background. Background is bright and I know some would complain about that, but it really brings him out and I like the effect.

We used to live on the beach when we were stationed in NJ- about a half block from the beach. But nothing cool like Cali. People there don't know what beautiful beaches are lol.

I've always loved California, but after seeing all those, I SO wish I was out there. Beach shots rock!

Left you some comments Shannon, you've got some great shots, and I really enjoyed looking at them. This is proof that you don't need monster white lenses to get awesome shots!
