Is there anyone with the Peleng that actually uses the manual focus or does everyone focus to infinity and set aperture/shutter to what they want? I couldn't see taking skate/action shots while trying to manually focus.
Added: What I meant to ask is....Is the DOF so great, you can keep it set at infinity?

I followed Kirbic advice and stopped down to f/5.6 on the lens and set the focus to 1 meter. seems to work great.

The Peleng isn't that hard to manually focus, at least if you're used to guessing distance...
For skating, just set it to 2 meters and 5.6 and the DOF will cover all you need it to. Just look at the DOF guide on the lens, it'll be focused to 0.6m and past infinity... if you want max DOF, set it so infinity is level with the aperture you're using, which is like 0.7m for 5.6.
It's a whole different thing to try to focus a fast telephoto manually at under like 2 meters. |

Boomtap, you shoot Nikon, get the Nikon 10.5 Much better than the peleng, which you risk much more getting an unsharp copy.
When I bought nikon a few years ago, it was because they were the only camera you could get a 180* true fisheye lens for...and it's still a favorite lens of mine. |

$200 seems to be about the going price.

I posted a WTB thread looking for one, the only offer I got was $230 after a couple weeks so I took it, it was cheaper than what I saw on Ebay... it's just money I guess |

The pentax 10-17mm will be released in a couple of weeks by Tokina.
I'm considering it as an alternative to the 10-22 with a defish tool. |
