I took this photo a while back because I was completely taken by the innocent look on the childs face, matched by the stark difference in posture size and expression between the two, which so reminded me of the Charlie Chaplin movie "The Kid" with Jackie Coogan. After staring at the image today, I was prompted to find the original picture that inspired me to snap the shutter. I thought I'd share the side-by-side view because they fit pretty well. Not too bad IMO?
Anyone have any similar images in mind that match another image or a thought, that they took or one by someone else, that might be worth sharing?

This is a nice photo Steve. I love the look of absolute innocence on the little one. The expression on the woman̢۪s face tells a much different story. Well done!

You should flip it! Then it'd really blow people away.

Yeah, it'd be really interesting to more closely mimic the original -- flip, match the crop, and convert to B&W. Or don't flip but actually place the two images side-by-side, maybe as mirror images.
It's an interesting idea, to find a photo which bears a relationship (intentional or not) to an existing one ... |

Well, I do prefer the original but this was a fun idea. Thanx for the input.
I hope this thread doesn't die. There must be somebody out there who has a similar story regarding an image.

I actually prefer the flipped and toned pair but what a great image anyhow! Such a strong sense of narrative in the faces, one just starting the other well expressed.
Kudos, Steve. |

I took this shot because it was funny.. at first, but once I got it into photoshop, I knew that it reminded me of those old "Keystone Cop" shows that my dad was so fond of watching.. And those old Circus Strong-Men they had in them. So I did the picture up to look "old-time", and to try and give anyone that had the same type of experiences I had as a boy watching those old films maybe have a bit of a sense of nostalgia too.
An example of an old Circus Strongman
Oh, and of course.. Your shot certainly has the same feel as the Chaplin one.. would that the child have glanced in your direction more.. or.. not. heh.

You know, I really like the modification that was suggested. THose two together look very visually interesting.
Then again, I like most of the stuff you do. So I'm a tad biased.
I did this one a bit back to try and replicate the effect of a holga shot. I'm forgetting who inspired me to do it.

Brad.. read the OP more closely. While it's a nice look-alike, I think the renamed thread title is causing a bit of a confusion.

I did.
Perhaps you could shed some light here as I'm old and dumb. |

Just was hoping it wouldn't turn into a simple "I shot this guy that looks like this other famous guy" thing.. I know that pawdrix wanted people to be a little more cerebral than that. Of course, your original post was only the picture at the time I responded.. sorry aboot that..
So, tell me.. do you have any special connection with Ernest Hemingway?

Well there is a pic in the comments of that shot, no biggie.
Yes, I did take that shot as I did think he very closely resembled Mr. Hemmingway, and post-processed it in a similar fashion.
And yes, were were old drinking buddies.
Sorry if I wasn't cerebral enough for you or Steve on this issue.

DOH!!!
Brad that's a very cool shot and pretty much inline with what I was thinking. If you were thinking, Hemmingway in repose chomping on a sandwich in Cuba...this guy must have some stories...damn, look at the lines in his face, when you snapped...then ah'm IN!!!
Not a look-a-like thread exactly but more like a full package scene or vibe that took you to...let's say, a movie, a place or time in history. A thing that you saw...reminded you of something, well known perhaps, that you nailed nailed in a new image. |

Let's change direction a little...
Taxi Driver (1976)
Travis Bickle: All the animals come out at night - whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets.
(taken in the same area where the film was shot)
This image was inspired by that line in the movie. To avoid getting the shit kicked out of me, I left the "whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies" out of frame.
