When I shoot a lot of photos, I browse through them in the Windows Photo and Fax viewer that's there by default. Then I right click > open with Photoshop CS2 and edit them like that.

I have two questions:

1. Does this edit my original file at all so that it couldn't be used as an original file submitted for proof on DPC if I don't save over the original file and instead hit save for web?

2. Is there anyway I can open more than one file at a time when I'm viewing them in a folder on my computer? I've tried selecting them all and them clicking open with PS, but it only opens one at a time with that for some reason. I'd like to be able to open a lot of files at once into photoshop.

Thanks!

Doesn't edit the EXIF data. After the first file opens in CS2, drag and drop the rest of them into CS2.

If you only click Save For Web then your original will still be valid. As long as you don't hit Save by mistake.

You can select all the photos, then drag them into the Photoshop window. This will open them all :)

Oh wait I have another question!

You know all those rulers and line junk that comes on when you hit Control + h ? Those are now set to default or something and come on everytime I open PS, and I hate them.

How do I get them off permanently?

Should just hit the view and uncheck them.

You can do that but not with RAW files- {why I don't know} you'll have to do the drag/drop as recommended above.

It wouldn't work with the 3 mp jpgs I was trying to open. (Raw files are a dream and a thousand bucks away from me right now...)

One way to do it is to open Bridge, select the photos you want then right click on one of the selected photos and select open with PS.

If your worried about overwriting the original the solution is simple assuming the images are on your hard drive already. Simply open windows explorer (the file explorer not the internet explorer), navigate to the folder that contains the images, right click it for the popup window and select properties.

On the folder properties window that pops up look to the bottom where it shows "attributes" and check the box that says read-only and you will be prompted wheather or not you want to make all the files and subfolders read only as well and select yes. Now all your files in the folder in question will be read only and you cant save over the top of them.

This also makes the folder read only however so you may want to go through the above, right click folder again and uncheck read only and it will prompt if you want to change status of files in folder as well and select no. This will make it so the files within are read only but you can add more to the folder.
