Thanks for posting this and the links. I'm off to the Sierras/high desert in a week, so I'll give it a shot.

You folks might also enjoy playing with the Anamorphic filter -- you view the distorted picture in a mirrored cylinder.

Do all post processing work and using Photoshop you can do "Save for Web" or using Pacisa you can export the picture and reduce the pixel size to 640.

I think this tutorial is a bit better. Specifically, instead of increasing the "Canvas size" to make the image square, it recommends using "Image size" to stretch the image. Seems to work better for me.

my brain hurts.

it's really hard to try to understand those pictures...

Oh, that was fun. This is a really rough and dirty try at this technique. Some sloppy cloning in the middle and at the top to close the circle. I actually have a 21 image pano of Roosevelt Elk ladies presenting their south ends to the camera. (Except one of the girls, of course) This is 11 of the images.

P.S. A companion image, using 6 images is already in my portfolio:

I like the new version better!

Thought I'd give it a try with PSPX. It is a really cool effect to play with!
