Running it on one of my PC's right now. Because of its wimpy videocard no areo glass but other than that its stable and functional.

I'm using it now and it looks lovely! And it runs faster than XP too from what I can tell. Not crashed at all since RC1 either.

Any issues with any drivers such as audio, video etc? I was ready to put it on a brand new laptop I just got but I believe the beta expires in JUn 07 so then either buy VISTA or I guess computer blows up ;)

Do they have an upgrade price set?

No issues for me. All the XP drivers I have on CDs work fine, and my graphics card even has Vista drivers on the website (Nvidia GeForce). Everything except sound worked fine "out of the box".

For anyone interested in this, you must be running XP SP2.
W2000P is not a qualifying OS.

If Adobe ever gets round to porting PS to Linux we can dump MS down a very deep drain - or at least that's my intention.

I agree with that 100% If I could have used photoshop in linux I would still have it on here.

Anyway, what happens when the full version is released...will our copies of vista still work if we download this thing now?

edit: man that is cool looking in those features thing. I'm thinking of giving this a shot.

Bill Gates prefers a blank check made out to cash. My bet is that it will be $300 new, and $150 upgrade.

How did you do that. I would probably not even run windows if I could get PS 7 to work on my ubuntu desktop.

I'm now downloading the 64-bit version.
I'll still be able to run my 32-bit 3rd party software like Photoshop, right?

The 64 bit is only for new dual processors I think, isnt it?

err... I thought the 64bit is meant for 64bit processors? OMG did I just wasted my time downloading the 64bit version? My processor is the AMD Turion64, please advise!

If you download the 64bit ver be shure that your current hardware is very new or else you will have grief! Run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor before you install.

I think it will work with your 64.

Install Wine ... then google Photoshop 7 for more info... there was a script I had to build to get it to run correctly, but after that it runs well.

thanks guys, just few more questions regarding Vista RC1,
anyone knows when it will expire? also, I won't have problem with 32bit software right, since I'm going to try the 64bit Vista

Hmm, right before all my assignments are due, I'd better do those in XP on my other bootup!

I've been running RC1 for about a week now, and it's pretty awesome. XP's looking a little clunky to me now. I haven't had any compatibility issues except when installing Zend Studio (worked ok after install).

Yes, it's very slick and fast, especially with the right horsepower (which I happen to have;), but more than that, to me it seems a bit more intuitive. Context menus have stuff you expect them to have, things seem well placed, and the interface generally behaves in a more logical way. This is the first version of Windows where I haven't heavily customized the interface because I was annoyed with it - I've been using Windows since version 2.

It does get a bit of getting used to though. It's different enough that I get a bit confused sometimes. And as for Explorer, tabbed browsing is great, but I keep closing the browser window and losing all my tabs, being used to multiple browser windows. (There's a warning you can turn off if you're about to close all your tabs. Leave it on.)

If you're satisfied with Vista and you use Office, download and install Office 2007 beta. It's pretty new, and just as intuitive and well done as Vista. You'll have to pay a buck for the download.
