Okay folks. I need help here. I need to quickly buy hubby a good point and shoot that is small enough to put under his Motorbike seat! It has to take CF cards and at least 8mp. He is going away in a few weeks and wants to take it with him.
Now is your chance to throw other brand names at me...!
Price wise...we pay a lot more for our equipment over here so just open the price range and tell me what it is in USD as I can then work out its approximate price.
So let's get the ball rolling.
What camera am I going to buy him?

Damn, and I was gonna suggest that we trade my 5.2 MP camera for one of your SLRs. But it's not 8MP and it takes SD. Oh well, guess I'm outta luck.

how big is his motorbike seat?
I think the Canon G7 is due out this October if you can wait.
One sweet camera, it looks. |

Okay...here is the motorbike...a Triumph Speed Triple. As you can see the seat, although it takes 2, the space available is very limited in there.
My Sony definitely won't fit. He was going to take my sons camera, a Samsung V700 7.1mp that I won for him last year. But it takes SD's and I really don't want to have to buy more SD's nor does he want to take the charger. Plus, if Nikolas found out his Daddy took HIS camera there would be trouble.
So we have to look for one just for his motorbike!

Nope...he is going Triumph rally in NSW at the end of October...so with delivery times...it will be too late to wait for the G7.

Hmmm...okies I just realised I have a heap of Sony Memory Sticks...so I guess I could give him those if he got the appropriate camera.
But which one?
Anyone??

I think the DSC W100 is the goer out of the two.
Are there any other suggestions out there?

Looks great but I only want to go with CF or Memory Stick cameras...and at the moment it seems to be between the DSC N1 or the DSC W100.

Try plugging in your criteria here. //www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare.asp
You may have to drop your pixels down to 5mps. More pixels does not necessarily mean better pictures. [/url] |

This camera is touch-screen, so it may (probably will) be very fragile while stuffed under the bike seat. You don't want to damange such a screen. I know with Pocket PCs, repairs on these screens are a couple of hundred dollars (USD).
