Ooooâ€Â¦ Coooolâ€Â¦. I have an old laptop that is just begging for something to do. I have an even older black and white one that would be good for errrmm... well erm... black and white pics.
Thanks for posting this, looks like I have a new project to add to my ever growing list. lol

I keep telling my partner that it’s not old junk it’s really useful stuff and now I can show her why â€Â¦ hehe

My Sony Vaio just screamed in horror ... LOL

I guess it knows this is something I would try. Hmmmm, might have to see if I can get my prop Dell to boot :-)

Probably a lost cause after this:

I did one of these a couple of years ago out of an old Apple laptop. I'll have to take some pictures of it. It works great, but it's a smaller size, more like a 5x6 screen. I mounted it all in a custom frame. The first time some of my neighbors saw it, they thought it was just a picture, until the picture changed.

What a great idea! I have an old laptop but the screen is only passive so I don't think it'd look that flash!

I'm going to be doing this this weekend...or trying to at least. I snagged an old Compaq Armada computer for free from work. I'll hopefully have pictures to show you guys how it goes. There are several people at work wanting to see how it goes too. The wireless network card is a great idea...however, I don't have one readily available (have one at home)...and I'm too cheap to go buy one. So that aspect might have to wait for a bit. I also don't know what sort of frame I can get close to here, but we'll see.

I was planning on it! Should hopefully have some up by Monday. I'm going to go out and try to get a frame tomorrow, I guess we'll go from there.

Ok, so I just thought I would update you guys on my progress for this project. Well, not all has gone as planned as of now. I did manage to get the laptop dismantled and all, but in doing so, I somehow fried the motherboard.... I don't know how or why since the power wasn't even plugged in. But, I will have to see if I can get another board at work tomorrow afternoon. The rest of the laptop is ready to go in a frame which I will hopefully be buying tonight or tomorrow morning. I did test the set up with a cardboard box (the only thing i had that resembled a frame and that I could destroy) and it does look pretty good. I have pictures of the disassembly process, but I'll probably just post the whole deal when it's all finished.
