Great to meet you guys. I can't beleive you guys were able to make it home and get online. I went straight to bed. I can't hang out late with the big dogs like I used to.

Great to meet everybody. It's certainly a fun group here. Picture to follow.

Just kidding Kevin - it was the most fun I've had since six flags.

Hey, what are you complaining about? Hangin' out with me is kinda like a rollercoaster and a show. I should have mentioned that I have season passes and family plans available, too.

:^)

Hi all! I had a great time last night, seeing some of you for a second time & meeting many more for the first. It was a blast, and I'm thrilled that I now know two more really great places to shoot.

Many many thanks James for organizing it all!

No photos yet. All the ones I was really excited about (Sunset from the bridge) I accidently shot in RAW. It seems both Kevin and James are RAW shooters and since they were nice enough to loan me their cameras, that's what I ended up with. So I'll need to work on those a little. At least I figured it out before we moved onto the next location. Most of the rest of the time I just spent learning how to use the 20D so we'll see what I come away with.

It was really great meeting everyone and seeing all the regulars (if you can call us that) again. Wish I would have spent more time chatting though. :)

I'll try to get some pics up a little later. :) And I'm glad to see everyone made it home safely.

Sorry I should have warned you.

Sorry?

Hell, I tried to sneak "Manual" mode in on her but she figured that one out.

Seriously I hope those aren't too much trouble to edit, tho.

James -
That's not sensor dust. It's a bunch of UFOs flying past. Has to be. See:

The shot just before has none of those UFOs in it. They disappeared just as soon as I changed lenses, not to be seen again, even when I used the same lens. Go figure.

Success!! Well, at least I was able to convert the RAW's to jpeg's so I could work on them. Is RAWshooter supposed to be user friendly?? :-)

Here's just a few using rex's fisheye lens. FUN!! :-) More later hopefully, although I'm more excited about seeing everyone elses. Good stuff so far. :-)

Question for you 30D/Rawshooter users.... Can you not use Rawshooter to convert RAW files from a 30D?? The RAW photos I took using the 30D show up all weird in Rawshooter. They're all segmented, hard to explain really.

Just curious. Thanks! :)
09/17/2006 03:40:20 PM · #162
The RAW files for the 30D are different from the 20D's RAW files; you probably just need some updated driver for the software to access those files.

Thanks Kevin, probably not worth it. I only have a few of them (alhtough I'm sure one of them is probably an award winner or something) :-)
09/17/2006 04:45:29 PM · #164
one of them??? Now why would you expect the average quality of your work to suffer just because its in RAW format over Jpeg? I always expect you have more than one that is awesome.

::cheesy grin::

How're AJ's? I bet its not your shots and your editing that make 'em all so good, its probably his computer and how he has it configured, right?

OK, I've started posting some from last night over here.

He hasn't even looked at them yet, I don't think. I guess I'm definitely more the photographer in this household. I think he just came along to see what this whole GTG thing is all about. :-) Unfortunately, and I didn't realize this at the time, his back was giving him grief big time. What a trooper to hang out 'til the very end though. :-)

And what's this "His" computer thing, huh?? :-) Believe me, if we had to share a computer, I'd never get any photos posted.... EVER. :-)

I've barely started, but mine are going to be

Here

BTW - I want to thank everyone who came out for being so friendly. I meant to spend a ton of time getting to know everyone, but I am not yet good enough to take pictures AND talk LOL.

Had a great time, and am ready for the next one!

I want to thank everyone for coming out. This was such a blast. I only regret there wasn't enough time to talk to everyone a lot. Maybe everyone can make the next one.

North Georgia. Mountains???????

And, of course, I have no need to sign it. I think that it should be from the group, not am individual.
