Your entry cannot contain more than one original image. So, no, combining 3 images to create a triptych would be illegal. You can however use borders to turn one image into a tryptich, but this is tricky and would have to be very well done to score well.

Hmmm, you sure the tri-paned border wouldn't be a major element?

Yes, but do read the comments made during challenge on that shot - many of the voters said they would have preferred the shot without the borders. Others, post-challenge liked it better with borders ..... make what you will of that.
