My first ever "through an airplane window" shot...
I kind of like it. Comments, anyone?

How'd you get a camera on the plane? Or did they already do away with the "no carry on or electronics" thing?
edit: BTW - I like it!

I don't think still cameras have ever been banned in-flight in the USA. They were banning ALL carry-on luggage in the UK for a while at least, but... That's not all, either: my flight home was delayed an hour and they let us back off the plane. I asked the gate guy if I could take some pix in the terminal and he said "Sure!" so I did. But I can't show those just yet, challenge stuff ya know...

Nicely done to remove all the window crap.
Speaking of clouds over Oregon, I am killing myself for not having my camera with me during a run last evening. The sunset was extremely odd and awesome with at least four different types of clouds juxtaposed on the scene. There was a large wedge shaped front of black clouds moving in with linear clouds above reflecting the setting sun (which you couldn't see for the front). Then there was an even higher more homogeneous cloud layer which reflected pink differently than linear lines. Finally there were groups of cotton ball clouds (not cumulos, but small clouds) which were low and primarily reflecting the city lights so as to be yellow instead of pink. it was just amazing and something you would see less than once a year (most sunsets being relatively alike).

Oddly enough, NO cloning was needed for this image. Surprised the hell out of me, especially inasmuch as I shot with the 10-22mm, which has serious DOF. The reason it's squarish is because the original has the right third of the frame with the windowframe and some of the plane wall, so I cropped that out. This was as much of the engine as I could see from my bulkhead seat. (Ah! The joys of preboarding, one of the few benefits of being "handicapped"...)
Sorry to hear about your missed sunset. Shame on you!
