He is really doing awesome with the 300D! I am imsprired when I look at his profile and see the beautiful images. That makes me want to go and see what my 300D can do. (with me behind it jhonan)

What an inspiration!

P.S. We also share last names, crazy.

Thank you Dr. Achoo

Yeah, he's OK if you like that award winning photo kind of thing.

Agreed. The doc, drachoo, is amazing!

Wait is it not Dr.? What the heck is drachoo?

Yea, I often check the memory card to see what my camera has been doing while I'm out. It never seems to produce any good shots though... :-/

isn't that the name of the kid from The Never Ending Story?!?

What amazes me is how consistent he is. With an occasional decent score, I'm only consistently mediocre...

We can all learn a lot from the doc by viewing his pictures and listening to him.

But don't ever forget, he kills bugs (in more ways than one!)

Kills them then glues the carcuses to flowers. Pretty sick if you ask me. ;-)

You share a first initial as well; you're both J. Friesen... One thing about Doc though; he has spiky hair. Come to think of it, so did Rikki... Maybe spiky hair is the "secret"?

You used the "R" word.

Well, I don't have spiky hair so I think I am out of luck.

That's Atreu(sp?) (ah-TRAY-you) ...

I'm just surprised the doc didn't specialize in Allergy and Immunology ....

What the heck are you talking about Paul?

Man, my very own thread. I'm so touched. Yes, I have the lowly 300D, but really it's all I need for what I shoot. My $$$ are spent on glass and I am one of those fanatics who will pretty well only put L-glass on my camera or make do without. I don't do a lot of model/sports so I don't need a lot of frames per second. The 6 MP doesn't really hurt too much when we're dealing on this site with a 640px canvas. Heck, I got a big advantage over the 20D because I can use a remote. ;)

I don't know what makes me "good". What do I bring to the camera that others don't? Who knows. I am slightly odd in that I am highly analytical from my dad, but highly creative from my mom. Maybe that's not a common combination. I know lots of docs who are about as creative as a can of SPAM.

Anyway, thanks again for the compliments. It means a ton to me. I know there are plenty of people here who are on an even higher level. I think of people like Manny. That's where the genius lies...not in my stuff.

Now I feel bad because I have just possibly closed a barter for a 30D. No, I'm not going to use it (see the Buy/Sell section) because I have my eyes on bigger things, but I guess I won't be as special when I have a "real" camera, will I?

I mis-read/mis-remembered something and didn't go double-check before I wrote that -- obviously it makes sense that you are a specialist in that ... Sorry for the confusion : (

BTW: I've noticed that people who are successful in medicine are often equally (if not more) talented in other areas as well, such as photography and music. Someone who helped me learn both medicine and photography (while I taught him graphic arts) is Lonny Shavelson; he's an ER doc and photojournalist, has lately been doing some radio reporting on NPR/BBC, and used to play the hammer dulcimer and several other instruments ...

I certainly don't know, but here's what I think. You nail the technicals every time. This can be learned. I suspect that you also shoot from the gut, knowing what works and doesn't. I'm not so sure this can be learned. Throw in really good PS skills, and we get the doc.

Well, I would consider my PS skill to be only above average. Not only that, two people currently consider my Chemistry shot to be "out of focus". ;)

I do believe that if a shot is worth shooting, it's worth shooting until you get it right...

I won't even mention how I mis-read that when I quickly skimmed that post the first time. Let's just say that I read it in a way that would evoke painful thoughts to every male here.

If he took a picture of those he'd probably ribbon. Thanks for the laugh!
