For the first time in I have no idea how long, the left side of my home page is blank. No challenge entry photos looking back at me. It looks naked.
But since I have indeed firmly established myself as a 5.5 shooter, I think from now on I'll just send a PM to posthumous when I put something in my portfolio that he might like. :-) |

I'm right there with ya with my rule of thirds entry, which finished with an eminently average 5.498... We'll bet ya some pictures to beat that average when you come by to visit :-)

Yeah, but you screwed up with that 6.7something in the Free Study and have four (4) pics in your top row with scores over 7. At least I'm a lot more consistently in the mid-5's. :-)
Heh! Just noticed, though, that my incredibly horrible entry in Camera Self-Portrait beat your much more creative and better executed entry. Gotta love it...

I've discovered that not having a challenge entry is kinda depressing, even if they never do score as well as I'd like.
Guess I'd better go see what the challenges are for this week, huh? |

I'd rather have something scoring in the 4's than not have anything at all. Also, since the voting has gotten so much harsher than when I first came here, I equate the scores in my own head 1 point higher than the actual number assigned (if that makes any sense). Otherwise, it would seem I've gotten much worse instead of at least a bit better as a photographer. Mostly, it's just for fun and I'm entertained by the comments and forums, but I need that update button. The more I have on the left, the better! |

I just looked through the Challenges History average scores. I really can't detect any difference in averages from the old days to now. I think the scoring has always been harsh, and it's always been a challenge to get a good score. (That's what makes it so much fun) |

Hey, don't burst our rationalization... :-) |

To some extent I agree cloudsme. The highest scores are still around the same, as are the lowest. It's the middle ground that I beg to differ with. Someone who may have voted a 5 for a middle ground a couple years ago, is now voting a 2, 3 or 4. I have seen many technically correct, or even beautiful images that perfectly meet the challenge getting plenty of those numbers (along with a few 1's tossed in for good luck). What that means, I don't know. Obviously, it's just my opinion. |
