Here's Steve offering some foraged blackberries in Astoria, Oregon last weekend...

Ain't he wonderful? The man can survive on prickly pears in the desert, he can find luscious blackberries in a strip mall beside a car wash...

All that, and more, as far as I can tell. And this is why we drove to Astoria:

It had been my intention to use this bridge for "geometry", but something better came up...

And these dinghies on the streambank are what I was shooting while Steve was foraging...

And another view of the bridge. This is enough for now...

I got Nada from the Florida trip, I was indoors and working with my client the whole time, never left the condo. I posted a shot of his pool last week to prove I'd been down there though; it's in my "recent portfolio additions".

Any further exposure of Oregon shots will have to await my go/no go decision re: Free Study XIII... I may post up some from the wedding I was out there to attend, though...

That can't be me... head is to big! LOL.

It was great to meet and visit with Bear_Music, DrAchoo and charliebaker (Zoomdak's dad) in Cannon Beach last week. The beach where they take most of their wonderful ribbon winning images is just a short walk away from their house.

This is the Astoria Megler Bridge that crosses the mouth of the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington state. It is 4 long miles across. I know, I've run across it before.

Did he discuss his secret to winning brown ribbons?????

A couple funky wedding shots: the first I made lying on my back on the dance floor with 10mm and 430EX flash, the second is fill flash on the 28-75mm Tammy at 75mm.

My "job" was to do weird stuff, they had a pro for the "real" stuff...

And here's a quickie group shot. My sister and her husband on the left, my nephew and his bride on the right. my other nephew kneeling in front on the left:

Yes. It shouldn't be too long before I have one of my own... I've come close, and he gave me the necessary "final ingredient" to finish the job...

On the bright side Thomas, I slept in your bed and played with your legos...

I'm glad the clouds were cooperating with you guys up in Astoria. I stuck around ecola and had a massive low tide which kept all the water from my "Stormy Seas at Dawn" rocks (which I've wanted to reshoot), but it was a little boys dream with thousands of anemones and starfish and chitins revealed. It wound up being pretty overcast with just a bit of definition to the clouds.

Still was a fun time and I'm glad to have met the illustrious Bear who showed me first hand the magic of contrast masking (ummm, isn't that shadows/highlights?). Steve was a pleasure to meet although I am quite jealous of his genetic potential after swapping some running stories. David (charliebaker) and his wife were wonderful hosts.

I did manage to snag, I think, a pretty good chemistry shot at "Camp 18" on the way home.

Yes, absolutely. I've been remiss in not mentioning that. Marvelous hosts. Thank you mucho grande, David and trina!

And good to meet you too, Jason. I hope my Mexican food didn't play heck with your finely-tuned athlete's tummy :-)

Naw, for a white boy, I like my food spicy. I never know how to indicate to the Thai restaurant close to work that I want the "real" five star instead of the "white man's" five star (read: two star).

Let me add my voice to the chorus... Trina and David (charliebaker) are great hosts and wonderful people to be around. You immediately feel right at home with them.

Steve Davidson has been spotted on the Oregon coast, along with Bear_Music and DrAchoo. Great to have Steve, Robert and Jason in our home to enjoy Robert's superb culinary arts and hear Steve's account of his adventures while on his own "Survival" show in the wilderness of the southwest. Black & white photo of Robert (looking a bit like Ansel!) in action taking his "Wedding Tree" photo which placed 15th in the recent "Single Tree" challenge.

jejejeĆ¢„Ā¢

If nothing else, that shows just how flat the light was that evening :-)

Again, let me reiterate what gracious (and amusing) hosts David and Trina are, and how much I enjoyed my to-brief visit.

My boss likes Thai food and when he orders he just asks for 'Thai Hot', and he gets the hotter flavor.
