Taking the advice of some commenters on 2 of my shots, I re-edited them. Can you tell me what you think? I still can't figure out 'selective editing'. All the tuts I see are for PS and I have PSP. The options are different, I'll get it sooner or later.
before after
before on top, after on bottom

Deleted my P.S.

The edits that you've done give the images more of a wow factor.

In the colour images, the couple stands out better.

For the B & W the lights aren't so overpowering and blend better with the rest of the image. The original is more about the lights whereas the second is about the bridge (which I think was the intention in the first place).

Thank you Colette. Processing my shots 'properly' is what I need to work on. I really need to work on that. I also need to get PS so I can follow the tuts. PSP does things diffently and it doesn't have all the same things PS does.

Good work Ed. What did you do exactly?

Grrrrrrr Phil, you had to ask. Lemme see if I remember. BOTH started over in RAW. Since I don't PP that well, it's mostly trial and error and hope next time I can remember what I did.
I put the steps in the comments. I think I got it all.

Couple of questions someone brought to my attention.
In the B&W shot.
1. Would you straighten using the waterline at the far side of the bridge or using the base of the bridge (where the base meets the water)?
2. Do you think it needs to be sent through Neat Image (I tried NI and couldn't get the hang of it)?

In the Brooklyn Bridge shot
1. Someone suggested taking the couple from the darker shot and overlaying it to the 2nd shot. Aside from the fact that I don't know how to do that, do you think it would look better?
2. I'd like to dim the light almost in the middle of the shot on the far side of the water a bit...how can I do JUST that 1?

I REALLY appreciate your comments and assistance. Between this site and the course I'm taking, I think my shots are getting better. But, my editing leaves much to be desired.

I like the new edits much better. You've learned a lot to judge by these two!
