I have another thread here asking for feedback on my biz card design - i also have it posted over at FredMiranda.com - a couple of comments over there say that gradients are a very bad thing....but don't elaborate.

What's the issue? I plan on giving a fully camera ready PDF at 300DPI to vistaprint....should I be concerned it won't reproduce well? Or is it a style thing or ??

Naww, c'mon, you can tell me!

Vistprint is closed till monday to ask them. They have a sale on cards now...not sure if it'll still be there monday or not. Wasn't there a few days ago. Not that $10 is much.

I don't think its a reproduction problem, I have one on mine and it seems to be fine.

I've never heard any specific problem as far as design goes for using them either... weird.

I say if you like your design then go for it...

They only look good on glossy paper. Otherwise they look very grainy.

I could see where you might run into some banding issues with printing.

I had asked where the biz card thread was and as soon as I posted here, I saw it.

I like the cards you posted.

I like the design...I get the glossy cards (a good percentage more money, but much nicer IMO for a photographer, more umm, photo like).

The back I was going to have teh website, etc and a small gradation..it's the back and all. I may go for it anyway and see what it's like.

I don't see your design.. But personaly Don't use Vistaprint for professional things. In my experance they are horribly overpriced for the low quality you get. Even' with their same daily/nighty sales they ahve.

Although the only thing I have seen with Graduents is colour matching.

I used a differnt printer, I had True Blue to white grad. And it came back more purple than blue. I had the same Blue in other areas of the card and they printed correctly. So not really sure what happen. Probly should have contacted them but never did... All the proffs look correct just finaly product was off.

Guess I didn't contact them because the cards where for a client and they liked them so left it at that.

Color should not be an issue LOL

Vistaprint is very good - their glossy cards anyway. I've even seen tehir freebie cards and they'r ethe same quality, or better, than much of what I see. And right now 1000 glossy 4 color cards are $35. Unfortunately I get no discount for b&w. Oh well.

Gradients are fine! Here's one I designed. Find a good printer or ask for a press proof. Vista are economical but your card is your top lead generators. Don't skimp.
