Just got notification that they have a new website up.
Works pretty well, needs some better features for upload/download of images. But hey, It's a work in progress.

Hi gang,
Yes, I know it has taken awhile to get images... but I swear it's not because we're not thinking of you, but because basically I max-out infront of e-mail after 6 hours :)
Mike has and I am working on setting up a distribution gallery where you can pull images off of based on our volunteer group lists. This should make life easier for all. Also, more updates have been posted on the blog.
As far as entering challenges, I would love to, but all time infront of this laptop is OPR for now! |

Hey, there! Nice to meet you, beckysell. :-)
I'm also a volunteer, and just received your updated email yesterday. Tomorrow, I'm off to Fiji for a week, but as soon as I return I'll be right on it.
I first heard about it at www.retouchpro.com, and heartily recommend that if anyone gets any images that they are having some trouble with, to talk with the retouchpro guys. They rawk! :)

Just a reminder to everyone: if you are currently not signed up as a volunteer, in order to receive images you need to e-mail volunteer@operationphotorescue.com with your skill level. If you've already done this/are already working on images/already receiving e-mails and updates, there is no need for you to e-mail again.
Mike's Photoshelter gallery for volunteers A-B and N-Z is up and running. Mine for volunteers C-M is nearly finished.

I thought I'd just give this thread a little bump since OPR had dropped off my radar for a little bit as it may have some of yours too. And also to let some new folks know about it, that may not have been around when it was first posted about. But they've got a new batch of photos, 200 to be exact, that are in need of repair.
If you check out Beckysells post previous to mine you will find the link to the website. It'll explain what they do and why. There you will find links to the OPR blog and also to the OPRWorkshop where you'll find forums that can be quite helpful when you have questions about what to do with a tough repair.
Anyhoo, it's a wonderful organization and for anyone who wants to give their photoshop skills a workout, it's a great way to make a difference in peoples lives that have lost so much.

Are they still operating? I noticed that the letter with the page was written in Nov 08. Anyway, I will be helping out in a few days when I get some cash moving again.

It would seem they're still up and running, although plenty of disasters have flown under the bridge, since then. I deliberately resurrected the old thread after getting a plea for contribution today.
