I took this shot at the Evergreen Museum in Oregon the other day and I really like the effect, but wish there was less clutter in the shot. To my eye it appears to be less distracting in the BW version.

I don't think it's too cluttered - to me it's quite interesting. But I do prefer the B&W - I just like the feel of it better.

I agree, it's not cluttered, it's very interesting. As well, the black and white fits the subject matter. Very nice.

I am going to differ frm the previous posters. I agree that there doesn't appear to be too much clutter - it all fits with one theme, airplanes. I will say that I like the color better. There is something pleasing to my eye about the golden tones. If anything, go with a duotone with browns or even a sepia if you must take the color out.

Can I ask what method you used to convert it to black and white? The tones are just lovely. I very much prefer that one.

You should try using the burn tool on the color one. It would look pretty cool and still leave some detail of the clutter/other airplane stuff while focusing the eye on the main plane.

I like the black and white. To my eye, the clutter is less distracting. Nice shot though.

Only complaint would be the name. The Dakota (DC-3) wasn't a bomber (save the nickname "biscuit bomber").

I think it deserves the golden tone in the colour image. Maybe try a duo-tone?
