This morning started out as a typical Monday morning, took my little boy to school came back home and was sitting at my computer when I decided to go downstairs and get a drink of water. I reached the bottom of the steps to hear this loud meowing. The pitch was to high for one of my cats. The dog who is always right beside me is going crazy and barking at the dining room closet.

I opened the closet door a little more and then I start to hear two meows I searched for a minute through some old linens before I finally found our orange tiger striped cat who was in labor, SURPRISE! I didn't even know she was pregnant. She had already had two kittens and within the hour there were a total of 3 kittens. One of which we had to clean up and cut the cord on. (Boy did I learn a lot this morning)

Now an hour and a half later mother and all three kittens seem to be doing well. She's exhausted but hasn't left her babies and they are nursing.

Funny thing about the whole story is my cat never goes outside shes 100% an indoor kitty, the father is her brother, who is away visiting my dad's while they try to get there calico pregnant before they get her spayed, and he has an appointment next week to be nuetured. He's on busy black tom cat.

Mother has 2 orange and 1 black kitten and please forgive me for the quality of this photo but after I moved her from the closet to a clothes basket I didn't want to distrub her too much just to take a photo. All you really can see is Mother and the black kitten the other two blend in very well with her. But I am sure in coming weeks you will be seeing a lot of her and her babies =o)

Many congrats to you and yours! And my housemates wondered why I was so anal about getting the cats fixed sooner rather than later. :) I can't wait for kitten pictures!

I promise kitten photos now if I could just talk someone into a Mother's Love challenge and I could simply capture her and her kittens. I can't stop watchin her with them. She is so tuckered out but yet she is taking care of them and protecting them.

So sweet! I love the arm around the babes!

I rescued two stay kittens recently that were born on my neighbor's roof. I heard them crying so I rescued them and bottle fed them for about a week and was lucky enough to find a wonderful home for them both. It made my heart so happy. (I couldn't keep them myself because we already have three dogs).
