The DPC system automatically generates scores regardless of how anyone votes. That's how great images end up in the lower 50%.

Ooooh! I like that one!

Corollary - those from Iceland get a +2 on their generated score automatically.

A long time ago I figured out how Langdon picks the challenge topic each week -- he scans my hard drive for the best picture I've taken in tha past few days and makes that next week's topic ...

You know, that's probably true almost for all of us.

...and I think I know when the scanning is done. 12:00 am each Tuesday and Sunday... you know that 10-15 minutes waiting for "calculating" the results ;) right "calculating the results" and scanning our HDs.

Langdon took the photo's of the first lunar landing, and because the lighting was all wrong and with shadows in the wrong places then went into hiding, creating DPC....

Disclaimer - the following is NOT serious - just jealousy!

DPC Conspiracy Theory # 67597

Jorge De Sousa is a consortium of kick-ass photographers that all shoot for the challenge and then pick the best image to enter for the De Sousa user name.

The first entry in the Bokeh II challenge was a place holder taken by an intern and was not switched out in time.

I mean, what other explanation could there be?

I do think you're on to something... there is no other explanation except perhaps aliens. Aliens are ALWAYS a possible explanation.

i firmly believe that my wife secretly pays the SC and admins to vote my photos lower so that my already overdeveloped ego doesn't swell to an even more unmanageable size...

DPC does not really exist. It's just a figment of my warped imagination that desires to torture me.

I am Drew and Langdons real father, and the initials to my name ironically are DPC.

How's you mothers doing kids?

Forget that theory. Rose is CRAYON's Husband!

Things are not as we had previously assumed.

Oh yes, and all ribbon winners are evaluated and given a 'personality test'. Those that pass are given a robe colored according to the color of their ribbon. They are sworn to secrecy, and given a web address in a secret code. Subsequently, their computers show information about the photographer for pictures in voting. Some of which goes even beyond what we thought DPC actually knew about us. You never know when they are watching!

They meet online once a week to discuss which images shall be ribboned and which users shall meet the criteria to become robe wearers.

Said robe wearers are generally not SC members which is evidenced by the small number of ribbons usually given to SC members. A ribbon is handed out occasionally when a member starts to ask too many questions. There are however exceptions to this as the SC itself must be kept in control... from the inside...

Once a year, robe wearing members meet at a secret location somewhere in the world (plane fares are handled by profits from DPC Prints) where they worship the Egyptian God RA, the lord of Light.

Those who ask too many questions and cannot be bought off tend to suddenly disappear... either for brief 'vacations' to brain washing camps (stdavidson, bear_music and others!!!) or to disappear forever to unknown locales.

One rumor suggests that they are stripped naked and penniless and sent on a plane to a remote island in the South Pacific with no internet, no electricity for charging batteries and no photo labs.

Another rumor postulates that they are sacrificed to RA after being subjected to multiple hour long discourses on the photographic merits of Brown Ribbon winning images which are fed into their eyes directly through the optical nerve.

be careful what you say.
be careful what you think.
be careful what you shoot.

I think Art Roflmao is their current victim.
He seems to be "back" but he isn't the same... no he isn't!
He must have got brainwashed or blackmailed. He talks funny, he post funny stuff that sounded too civilized... Hmm

I think it goes even deeper than that. I've heard that the holy ones, a group clouded in secrecy even from the robe wearers have gotten weary of the Icelanders lately, (see A Single Tree Challenge for proof) so they have caused global warming! If they melt the polar caps there goes the Icelander's subjects and with that their magical powers to shoot anything beautiful. Even their super models will turn ugly although Larus will still look like an ape.
