Ability to change the title of our threads we start.
This would help with the Buy/Sell forum and with spelling errors.
Anyone else with me?

Which I just did to one of my sell threads. But wouldn't it be great if we members could do it oursleves so you guys could keep being bitched at and not taken away from that fun to change a silly title?

I think it would be very handy, and do not see any problem with members being able to edit their OWN thread titles. If all you can change is your own than how can there possibly be abuse?

Maybe if a thread doesn't go someone's way, the title would be changed to something unfortunate; sarcastically sulky, or worse. Immature people only, of course. |

Good suggestion!
Rather than starting another thread...I have a suggestion too. On our Watched Thread list, could you put checkboxes along side them so we can remove (or 'clear') them in bulk when we no longer want to watch them. Right now you have to open each thread, click 'clear', and then back space to the Watched List again. Still wish the Watch List was available under the Community Menu too.

I'd like to have a few minutes (right after posting) to edit my forum posts without having the "message edited by author..." note turn up.
I constantly make spelling mistakes or typos that I'd like to be able to fix without that message messing up the post. |

I rather like the suggestion made by Beetle... a short period of time to allow for minor modifications would certainly be a useful change. |

One of my most beloved forums, on which I spend hours a day, it works as such:
When you 'edit' the first post of the thread as the creator, you can edit the title as well as the body.
The system works great, and I've seen no abuse whatsoever. There should be some confidence in the maturity of the members here- we can handle the all mighty ability to control our own thread title, and in many cases such an ability is useful.
When an item is sold, you could add "*SOLD*" to the thread title, as happens on my other forum (which has 26,000 members exactly).
When conditions change the title can be changed.
When errors are made they can be corrected.
And numerous other implications. I was shocked that we couldn't change our own thread title when I joined, and I would hope that we can in the near future.
P.S. A time lock would be silly for changing the title, as it takes away from the usefulness mentioned earlier in allowing title changes. Simply put, that person started a post which happens to include a title- if they can change the body they should be able to change the title, since they made and started both.
As for time-sensative things, my 'other forum' has a system in which changes made within the first five or so minutes of posting are not logged under the post with a note for 'edited', so as to allow error correction without raising the "what did they edit" eyebrow.
