Each image is a surprise.
Each is something meaningful to the artist.
Each is a proud statement of their world.
Each brought them joy and are willing to share them with us.
Oh the joy each click brings to my monitor.

I find it easier to vote & comment on Free Studies regardless of their size, as it is an explosion of expression and creativity without getting boring.
I'll see if I can reach my goal of commenting on the entire collection.
Anyone else on board?

I am going to comment on every entry I vote on but I can't guarentee I will get to 100%
09/01/2006 01:17:33 PM · #3
I will vote 100% but may not be able to comment on all. I do aim to comment on at least 25%, though. Good on ya, Brad - and looks like from the score thread that you're doing OK in this one, too.

I try to comment on every one. I've already commented on 12 out of the 684. Almost halfway there... :|

I wish I could do that much commenting, but I have like 12 hours to finish voting (plus other stuff I have to do) before my trip to Florida and Oregon. I agree with you wholeheartedly that it's a pleasure to view and vote these images.

Yikes! Afraid I am not even going to be able to VOTE on 20%, let alone comment on 100% but good luck to you Brad, I´ll buy you a beer next time you are in Iceland if you manage this task, I think you´ll have earned it :P

I think my goal will just be to vote on the entire collection. I'm pretty new here, so I'm still trying to figure out my own voting criteria. The DPC-friendly concept is becoming clearer to me...technical proficiency seems to hold more weight than creativity in some ways. My own voting is more pro-composition, contrast, creativity. Three C's? And only within artistic merit. LOL. And I have no idea how to vote for portraits, so I often skip them.

Anyway, my comments seem kind of stupid to me, as I'm new to digital photography, but it's been suggested to me that writing the comments are as much as, if not more than, a learning tool for the commentator as the photographer him/herself.

I'll just do my best...I love your enthusiasm!

I also adore Free Study voting, little repetition and always keeping in mind how meaningful the entry is to the entrant. Brad, I'll shoot for 20%. Made 24% comments in the last one I voted, best I've ever managed to do.
09/01/2006 01:44:51 PM · #9
it might take me a day or two to eventually get to all of them... but i am going to try!!! I find I start to run out of things to say, but hopefully given that it is a free study, they wont be too alike, so I can have more to say on each one!!!

at least it's gonna be a rainy weekend, so i'll have something to do inside!!

That's really an amazing and very nice endeavor, Brad and you others! I'm just hoping I can vote on 20% - but I'm sure it won't be much problem once I get started. Didn't have time to enter it myself (tons of work at the last minute), but I am looking foward to voting <--- Brad's posting of this thread reminded me to do it!

I don't manage to comment on too many because my dial-up is so slow, and my computer somehow contrives to make things even slower. But I'm REALLY going to try to vote on all of them - I so badly want to see what everyone has done.

You have rated 284 of 684 images (42%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 39 of 684 images (6%) in this challenge.

Is there a comment threshold %, like there is for votes? I was going to aim for 100% and 15%, but it would be a shame to not comment enough for them to count...

Voting on this challenge is a real pleasure. Great work all around.

i believe all comments count even if your votes get scrubbed i think your comments would still count.

Well, I got the 100% voted on anyway, and even have time for a good second pass on my high-rankers. Bus to the airport leaves at (groan) 3:30 AM. And it takes me half an hour to get to where the bus leaves from...

Maybe I ought to try to sleep? This is the only problem with living on Cape Cod, sigh... In San Diego I was 2 blocks from the harbor and 5 minutes from the airport.
