This challenge is my first. I have had a couple of comments stating that my title doesn't really depict my picture. (I have also had a couple of comments state that it does! I love the different opinions we get here.) Those that said they didn't think my title was relevant did not show how they scored my entry. So, I am wondering if that is to be a consideration when voting.
So much to learn here! Marsha |

Some people say they ignore titles, others don't. Often I see a title that makes me smile, I will comment on it. On the other shoe, I have had comments back to me saying that my title shouldn't "save" the photo, as in the photo was confusing and the title shouldn't be a necessity. Just as in the comments you received, there are as many answers as there are questions. My input: Title the way you best see fit. Personal tip: Don't try to hard to lead the viewer to see your point of view. Good luck!

I pretty much agree with Swashbuckler -- I'll sometimes add "bonus points" for a clever or insightful title, but I won't deduct for "lame," mundane, enigmatic, or un- titled photos. I like titles myself, and make up the best I can, but I'm prepared at any point for the rules to change and the photos presented without titles. |

My only comment is please make sure your spelling and grammar are correct in your title. I never mark a photo up or down based on the title but it sure as heck bugs me when I see something spelled wrong.

ditto - conceive/compose/crop your entries so that they stand by themselves, and could be entered with no title at all - then from there, if you've got something in mind, attach your title --- good luck!

Don't you mean "spelled incorrectly"?

How about "misspelled"? |

My opinion on titles: Don't make it a "stretch". Some challengers will go through the photos they took during the week and try to make it fit into the challenge. I think the Corporate World was the worst one. Furthermore, the title should complement the image, not try to explain it (I know ... I'm a bit guilty of this in my Apples, Sky and Mirror entry). |
