I don't seem to understand. I use both.
Depends if Im shooting portrait or landscape.

| I use whatever works... it varies with the lens, my body position (sitting, standing), whether I'm stationary or in motion (e.g. in a vehicle) and whether I'm shooting landscape or portrait. In landscape mode, I'm most often a "thumb under, fingers over" shooter. In portrait, it's most often "under, with elbow against body." |

under...always under...except in rare circumstances where you can't get under...like close up, macro stuff where your lens barrel is literally against something ... then you do it any way you can.

| I am an under man but whenever I use over I know my photographs will not be sharp, which is really bad :):) |

| 90% of the time .. under .. camera feels more stable in my hands that way and I hate carrying around a tripod ;) |

well, scalvert is shooting horizontally, and buzzrock is shooting vertically...

| I'd go for under myself, but with both elbows tucked in to the side of the body. I think it must be gravitationally easier and firmer to support something from underneath rather than above. |

I've never personally known a pro who didn't shoot with the "under" grip; it allows the locking-in of the elbow to the body and substantially more stability. Breathe in, breathe out, click.

Reminds me of my police academy days. They even suggested firing our side arms was like shooting a picture. |
