I just finished voting. I came across a photo that I thought was very disturbing. I wasn't going to vote on it, but it just kept popping up as I was finishing off the last of the pictures, so I gave it a 1 just to get rid of it.
If I find a Photo disurbing, is there anything I can do about it? Even just a way so that I am not forced to look at it anymore.

I am curious as to know what photo you are refering too. I am not sure of the answer, I can only suggest doing what you did, and just voting on it. |

Give it a "1" and put it into the "trash can", and then forget about it... |

Right now the only "disturbing" images which can be flagged involve nudity. You can set your preferences so that the only time you'll see photos flagged for nudity is the first time you have to vote on them; afterwards they should be blocked from your display.
If you believe the photo violates site guidelines and not just your own personal tastes you can request a DQ. |

You don't Have to vote on it. Next time try this. When it comes up, go to the Challenges drop down button and Cast Votes and the one you are voting. That should take you to the overall view again (thumbnails)and (has worked for me before) that one should be first (if not it dows not matter), then click on the picture that is next to continue. It should then be the last one in line now.

Noticed some oddities:
1. Keep seeing that i voted on 315 of 316 pictures. Yet, can't see the one i didn't vote on (and i didn't submit to this challenge).
2. While voting, with 3 windows open, it happened repeatedly that i got a picture that i had already voted on. Then when i clicked to the next picture, would get a 'new' picture. Hence, no overlap between the 3 windows.
3. Had to revote and recomment on several pictures and am dead certain i had voted and commented on them already.
Also, is there a quick way to see how many pics you have already voted on? The only way i could see it was by opening a new window and do the cast vote spiel.
And last, is there a way in the Open Challenge to leave a comment but no vote? Wanted to do so with a picture that i thought had been submitted to the wrong challenge by mistake. |

without having seen the photo you are referring to..and I am not asking you to reveal it. I have not finished voting, so I might come across it...
but...
though it is your perogative to not vote on an image you find disturbing or offensive, I wonder if you might consider that the photo elicited emotion from you, and therefore perhaps the photo'g accomplished their mission.
Now, I might half eat my words .. like I said, I have not finished voting..but..
there have been the occasional photo on dpc that I find disturbing, frightening, etc.. but when I look at it "photographically", I can give it a decent vote.. if it rather deserves a 5, for example, and not a 1, it will just as easily 'disappear' so that you need not view it anymore, and may be more fair to the photog.
just a thought...

Hey Journey, I know the answer to this one. I was stumped on the same thing and then realized that the one photo that I hadn't voted on was mine. So you should be fine. That 316th photo is yours. |

For me, there is at least one picture (maybe more, not finished yet) in the Fauna challenge that I can't vote on because of a personal fear of this particular species.
I really don't know if it is a good picture or not, may be awesome, I am just too chicken to look. :-)

It is probably still registering a DQed photo. Not a big deal. i wouldn't worry about it too much.

I've never tryed it, but if it works like everything else, you should just be able the type in your comment, then click on the "next" button (the >> next to the numbers) and go on. Hard to test unless you know someone with a photo you recognize...
...and, I don't know about disturbing, but what's with the over abundance of animal sex pictures? Pretty juvenile... Next week I'm going to vote all animal sex picture with a.... oh, never mind...

Yes, you can. The way I do it is by first going to the thumbnail page. Under each photo is the title of the photo and "Rate this photo". Next to "Rate this photo" is a little clickable icon of a page with a folded top right corner. If you click on this icon, you can leave a comment without having to vote on the picture. I think ScottK's method works too, but I sometimes end up accidentally voting on the picture without meaning to.
p.s. After you enter the comment and refresh the page, the icon becomes orange, indicating that a comment has been made.

I didn't reveal it on purpose. (to be fair)

Yeah, my emotion is that I don't want to have to look at it. It's just that it kept popping up (5 or 6 times) as I was finishing off the voting. Since the site shows the unvoted Photos in random order, there was no way to stop it from coming up again. Maybe there should be a No Vote option so those photos are removed from the queue. You know what I mean?

The order the photos are presented on the thumbnails page is random, but I think once you select a photo to start voting, you should progress through the photos in the same order they were on the thumbnails page.
As someone else suggested, find the one you're concerned with, start voting on the next one, and "that" one should then be the very last one, unless you close out the voting session and return -- you'll then have to repeat the above steps. |

I was just hitting the >> to skip over the photo. Next time I'll try to the Thumbs page trick.
The photo would still appear at the top of the thumbs page, but that's not as bad as having to face the full size version randomly appear on screen.

I had someone on this challenge email me a note saying she had already voted on my submission. I didn't understand what she was talking about as I had only submitted it once. Is it possible that there is a glitch in the web site and that it is duplicating my picture in the contest? |

I can think of two photos in the Fauna challenge that were somewhat disturbing to me also. I took long enough to look at them for the normal things like color, is it in focus and those kind of things then I moved on. I don't like to give it a 1 just because it is disturbing cause that is my own opinion, I would rather try and score it on its overall technical presentation than just the subject.

How did she know it was your submission? Aren't the details hidden till after voting ends? I think she probably meant something else entirely.
