Looking at some of the camera self-portrait entries, I'm amazed at how the lenses dominate the rest of the camera.
Are these specific lenses, or is there just a lot of parallax distortion that occurs when the camera's close to a mirror?
For example, compare these entries with the Canon EOS 350D:
with the database picture of the camera:

On the first shot I believe it's the angle the camera is to the mirror making the lens most prominent.
On the second picture I believe it is the convex curve of the glasses that's making the lens seem much larger. |

| The 24-70L in the first shot is also quite a bit bigger than the kit lens pictured in the database shot. |

It's partly wide angle distortion, and how close the subject is.
Like in this shot, the lens hood of the 70-210 was about 5 inches away from the front element of the 18-55 on the camera, and it looks huge even though it's only maybe 80mm diameter.
