Hey hey,

I am looking to pickup some more A4 Matte paper and was wondering if you guys 'n' gals have any recommendations.

I would prefer not to be ripped off (I am sure that Epson/Canon etc over charge). Do any of you have a secret paper that is great quality for the money?

Also, when it comes to the weight of the paper I have been working on the assumtion that the heavier the better (I typically buy 300gsm when buying glossy), am I right is assuming that the heavier the paper the better?

On a side note, whats the heaviest matte paper you can buy, the heaviest I have found so far is 190gsm, is that about the best?

Thanks folks

D

I mostly leave my printing up to labs, but I've heard or read that you really should stick with the OEM papers to get the best quality from your printer, whatever the brand is.

I have been using an online lab too, but every now and then I look at my printer and think "why not have a go myself". This usually passes after a few days and I go right back to the lab. I do print for contact sheets when I do a job though, thats when I print at home.

I have also heard many people go on about only using the branded stuff for best results, but surely there must be decent paper elswhere, there are so many products, one of them must be good.........right?

I really like the Ilford Classic Pearl for printing on my Canon.I have done some tweaking and testing to get the colors right, but there are lots of profiles out there for many printers for this.
