I just noticed that my silhouette shot has slight haloing around the edge of the silhouette. What causes this? How do I get rid of it?

probably because your light-source was too strong..?

It could also be too much sharpening.

Which lens did you use, sounds like aberations to me. Wouldn't expect that from L lenses though.

Much of the haloing happens during resize.
In PS, Bicubic Sharper resampling method will do that a lot. May want to resize down in incremental steps, or even try Bicubic Smoother. I know a lot of images are perceived as sharper at small screen sizes, when they are actually the opposite.

It's in the original, so I don't think it's something I did in PP. I have a decent lens (Canon ef 24-70 L). I guess it could be a lighting issue. :(

I'm no expert, but I believe that chromatic abberation, increasing contrast, and over-sharpening can all cause haloing.

That's very likely. IS there a high contrast between the subject and the lighted background?

You could always sent the 20D & 24-70L to me and I could do some extended first-hand testing of them.
May take me a year or so to get the results back to you though.....

BTW, you can probably get rid of this with either a Hue/Sat adjustment layer or a Slective Color adjustment layer.

Sure - may take a bit longer then having to test the 2.8L version. If you had the f/4 I could have cut the time down by a few months.
