Challenge Details: Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to creatively capture an interesting photograph of a building or other installation (dam, bridge, etc.) that overzealous security personnel âthinkâ is out of bounds for photographers. Being detained or arrested is not grounds for disqualification, but may prevent you from getting your entry in on time.

I can't seem to find any of those here! Though I haven't tried to get to the heart of the naval base yet...

Only place I can imagine here would be the airport. Even there I don't see there being any trouble with the guards.

What about of the runway? Just jump the fence and get on the runway. I bet you could take some nice perspective shots of the planes taking off. :P

I recently had a minor incident with a temporary security guard at the office building that I work in. I've been working in the building for years and I know all of the regular security people, and most of the other people that work in the building too. Nobody has ever said a word about not taking photos on the property, and it isnât posted anywhere either. The other day I'm down near the entrance to the underground parking garage and I had my 5D with a 70-200 lens on a strap around my neck. The security guard, a middle-aged woman, comes up to me and, in her best 'I'm the authority in charge here' voice, starts asking me, "What are you doing here? Are you taking photos?" I politely tell her, "No, I'm not, but just out of curiosity, what if I was? Is there some reason that I shouldn't take photos here?" She says, "The property owners do not allow any photography on the premises. I'll have to ask you to leave now." I say, "I'm sorry, but I'm not leaving. I work here." âYou do?â she says. I say, âYes, I do. I work on the ninth floor and Iâve worked here for several years. Iâve never seen you here before though. Whatâs your name?â

Anyway, to make a long story short, her name is Patty. She apologized for bothering me, but still insisted that photography is not allowed on the property. We shook hands and I havenât seen here since then. I was going to check with the building management about the âno photography allowedâ BS, but my company will be moving to new offices in a different building very soon so it isnât really worth my time.

Oddly enough, a movie company filmed a commercial on the front steps of the building just a few months ago and no security people harassed them. Maybe Iâm just not a big enough star yet. :D
