I'm going to be in London for business the week of Aug 28. I also just found out Monday the 28th is a bank holiday, so the office I'll be visiting is closed... which means, assuming I can get all my gear on the plane without incident, I'd love to get together with anyone who would be free on that Monday. Depending on the work schedule, other days too, but Monday for sure. |
Hi Dave,
I am not around, unfortunately. However, I would recommend having a look at some of the past London GTG threads for ideas.
If it is sunny, I would recommend the walk from Tower Bridge to Westminster along the river on the South side of the river (go to Tower Bridge tube stop, go past the Tower of London and cross Tower Bridge, down the stairs (possibly explore around the river front around this area to see Shad Thames) turn right and walk along the river as best you can) takes you past some of the more interesting sights including HMS Belfast, various bridges, Lord Mayor's building, the Golden Hind, the Globe theatre, Tate Modern (Bankside Power station), Millennium ("wobbly") Bridge (possibly make a quick excursion over it to see St Pauls cathedral), the South Bank area (National Theatre complex) that puzzled was referring to, the London Eye, then across Westminster Bridge to see the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey (ends at Westminster tube station).
At a fast walk this can be covered in 1 hour, or at photographer's pace, 2-3 hours.
Indoor photographer friendly places (if it is raining) include the British Museum (a highlight of London regardless) (Holborn), the Science and Natural History Museums (South Kensington) and the V&A Museum (South Kensington).

This is my first set from the GTG and can be found here.
I will be uploading another set into a different album, part of a self-defined project called "Modern Cities: Contrasts and Contradictions", hopefully later on today.
Any comments desperately required gratefully received. |

Nice photos, I wish I'd been there with you all... I love Covent Garden.
Perhaps I can join a GTG in the autumn when I'm less busy with festivals! |

Here are the other pictures I promised that reflect an ongoing personal project, entitled Modern Cities: Contrast & Contradiction. They can be found here.
This is a lot more "arty" than anything else I have ever done, so be gentle!
Grateful for any comments, as always!

I nearly missed your album, Matt. Very nice images - I particularly like some of the architectural shots.

Oops!
The front page is here and both the project and GTG pictures are under the "Featured Galleries" section at the top of the home page.
Sorry about that!
