Order placed...

I expect to be putting 'Canon EOS-30D' under my name on Friday.

2 - 2GB Extreme III Sandisk cards and an extra battery should cover the wedding, along with the extra equipment I have.

There's also Norman Camera over here in Kalamazoo.

You could just drive here and get it within a coupla hours. You'd have to pay tax tho.

Should I order the Battery Grip?

I am already considering buying an extra battery and will have a shedload of extra 'AA' batteries for the flash unit. I don't want to run out of juice and I don't want to be swapping out batteries like crazy either.

20D (which is basically the same beastie as the 30D) has astonishingly long battery life; I've never even come close to using up a battery in a day's shooting. Even when I am shooting every day, it seems to run for a week on a single charge. Admittedly, I don't do a LOT of shots, but still... I have a backup battery and I've never touched it, except that I'll swap batteries each time I charge, so I am alternating them... I'm sure it would be different if I used the built-in flash, but I don't.

Most people have no problems. I would recommend SterlingTek as they have great batteries (better than Canon).

Are the cheap no-name batteries worth it?

$20 versus almost $50.

I am tempted, but I am also skeptical.

I agree, Amazon is a pleasure to deal with and they have lighting fast shipping available.

www.onecall.com

For the west coast, this place is it. A reasonable selection (although not as big as B&H for unusual stuff), good prices, and customer service that is beat by none.

I have the BG on my 10D, not so much for the additional battery life, but more for the vert release and grip.

That was the other reason I was thinking.

I am also considering either a Lightspere II or Flash Bracket. I still have a few weeks before I need to plink down anything for either a grip or a the Lightsphere II or the bracket.

It's in the Detroit area...

Now all I have is that nagging anticipation thingy going on.
