Odds are there will not be a "Sherpet Challenge" but her influence is all around this site. Between her pictures, comments and just the love and enthusiasm for this website and the photographers that inhabit DPCland, this place wouldnt be the same without her. Go ahead and post your pics that remind you of, were influenced by or picked as a fav by the all mighty Sherpet.

Here is my take on the Sherpet style -

Well this one was uploaded about a year before Sherpet registered here (and taken well before I registered here), so you probably couldn't say it was influenced by her.

This second one - someone commented that they thought it must have been Sherpet - at the time I had no idea who she was, but was curious, so I did a bit of a search and came across someone who is genuinely a prolific and positive contributor to the dpc community.

They are, of course, both agave plants, so I think they fit within this thread pretty well!

Saw this Agave at the Botanical Gardens and immediately thought of Sherpet, couldn't resist taking a shot, but Sherpet is the Queen of Agave!

Here's mine, taken at the Montreal Botanical Garden last year. I think that it does fit the "Sherpet Perspective"

First of all, thank you for this honor, especially to you Tim so starting this thread, as I am just so touched and feeling waek at the knees, as I don;t really deserve this honor.....but thank you all so much, and you do know how to touch someones heart.

I found this image today, which was taken by suemack, and named in my honor, while browseing through the recentely commented images.....

for Sherpet by suemack

Sues comment, re her image; (Shez, your images make me notice things I've never noticed before. The wonderful lines of this ?agave.)

I was so touched, I began to cry, as it really touched me deeply. I love the colors that Sue achieved, and also the shadows. I would happerly, and be proud to have it in my portfolio.

Thank you all once again, each and everyone of you, as you have all helped to make my life so complete these past 8 months.....

I don't comment much on your pics sherp, but I almost always notice them in the challenges and occasionally browse your portfolio. I've seen you come a long way and I'm really impressed by the growth I've seen.

I actually like a lot of the recent stuff you've been doing too!

Way to grow girl!

Tim!! You are so awesome for doing this thread!!! And you are right. Our dear sweet Sherpet has made quite a difference in our lives, hasn't she!!! I don't have a "Sherpet" photo. ..I wish I did because her plant photos are certainly worth emulating, aren't they! But I am in awe of some of the stuff here that has been done in tribute to her!

WOW!!!!! Way to go Sherpet. ..look how you've inspired some of these great ones!!!!!!

I've not taken a photo in this style but I've looked at these types of plants in a new light since I saw some of Sherpet's photo's a while back.

a lot of people thought this was by sherpet.

OK heres mine...

I know this isn't an agave but it's the closest thing I have in RI, but the tones and composition were influenced by her images of green plants...Shez has had the most upbeat and positive influence on many of us here at DPC; she is never caught up in the many petty squabbles that are often meaningless in the long run...She is a woman of great humor, courage and creativity...just what we need here at DPC, a real photography enthusiast without any pretentions...

I got nothing like an Agave, but if my friend Sherpet shot Dahlias, they might look like this:

& images by astrogeek

I am in "LOVE" and it is a plant, that I have to have, as I have never seen an "agave" patterned like this before......

Help someone please, as if anyone can regonisise the scientific name of this "Agave", please let me know, so I can buy one NOW.....

It just freaks me out, and I am just so pleaseone of our member called astrogeek or known as Sam Rua, who has just recently joined DPC, has these magical images in his portfolio. He also has some other magical plants as well that I love in his portfolio.

Actually he has some great images in his portfolio, so hope you all take a look, and welcome him to DPC.

Now Bear; (Robert) You are so good at Photoshop, I am sure you could color this one in the same colors of an agave plant, and start a new trend..... We could call it "Bears Agavedahlia".....

I've been working on my contribution to this thread and might finally post a couple this weekend. I grow three varieties of Agaves in my nursery and took about 40 shots of one. They're O.K. but not what I want to do. Across the street from where my landscape crew is currently working is a group of what I think are Agaves of the exact same species as in Sherpet's shots. I plan on getting some shots of them to work on tomorrow night or this weekend. - - - Stay tuned!

...I don't have any good agave photos, but I did make a machine that essentially shreds them = P
