So much to learn and get and do! :-D

This week at "Michael's" craft store they have the 20x30 inch white foam board on sale for $1 ... both sides are glossy and it's nice and firm ... you can use it for a background or as a reflector ...

Aw thanks!! I think the nearest Michaels is kind of forever away, but someone I know might be around that area, and I will definitely keep this in mind. ... Actually, I probably should just make a trip myself, once I get the energy (and time, and money); there's a lot of stuff I should probably pick up, hehe.

I've used black posterboard a couple of times but I think ISO issues caused some grainyness, and I didn't even think about getting posterboard with a glossy side.

if you have raw you can add more shadows to drop it to completely black. Or you can use curves to drop and drop the left hand side to create deeper shadows then mask out the object that you have. Also try and manually set your exposure for the object will make things easier.

I don't do raw... don't have a lot of experience in manually setting exposure but I will keep that in mind next time as something to learn about or try - thanks!

I have used curves before, in this entry -

My other challenge entry with posterboard is this one and looking back on it.. ouch. I wish I'd started using Neat Image sooner, maybe that would have helped, hehe.

I looked at your confrontation pic real quick and did a quick edit to show you what I mean't with curves. I used one curve where I pulled down on the left hand side for the shadows and made the background black. Then I used a mask to take the curve away from the figures. Hope you don't mind me messing with your pic.

Ahhh.... I'm still not familiar with using masks so much. Definitely high on the list of things to learn. Thanks so much for your example.

Ducky's performance on Shutterstock continues to amaze me. In less than a week, he has crept into my top ten of all time downloads :-)

Go ducky, go!

BTW, he was rejected by istockphoto. They don't like the crop (too much negative space). Simple fix, so off to crop and resubmit.

Thanks! I'll be sure to send you a note if I need help. :)

If you're duck is doing well, you really should look into Rubbaducks. Tho, I think they are so unique, they might be rejected or marked editorial only.

I had to laugh at that; I'm fairly sure that some of my best sellers on both Shutterstock and iStockphoto have been rejected by the other.

I think that was the point I finally learned to ignore rejections from microstock, as it seems to be so random and arbitary at times!
