Didn't see this somewhere else specifically...
Someone in a thread I was reading had the comment about how they "would like to see challenges more specific to certain photographic genre", and I thought that was a pretty good idea and thought I'd bring it up here.
Photojournalism was mentioned in particular.
Rather than start a new thread for each of these... here is a list of ideas after looking around in wikipedia (not sure how many of these have already been done):
* Aerial photography- or maybe just from perspective up high to be a bit more inclusive?
* Environmental portrait
* Gonzo photography
* Night photography
* Post-mortem photography (maybe too morbid for most?)
* Snapshot
* Street photography
* Underwater photography
* Wildlife photography

I have thought this would be a good idea.
To take it one step further and keep it "DP Challenge" oriented...you could have challenge topics within the genre.
For instance....In Wildlife photography you could have stop action.
...In Photojournalism you could have "Working Men/Women"
My categories would be..
..Photojournalism (news, lifestyles and sports)
..Wildlife (no pets in cages or on leashes etc)
..Landscape
..Architecture
..Portraits
..Still life
..Studio (Fashion, Nudes, etc)
I am sure there are others but these are the first ones that came to mind |
