I need some help, I really need a cheap portable(not studio strobes) flash setup that will work both with my 350d, eos 5 and eos 20.
I was think of two or three flashes with some kind of ir or radio transmiter. Can anyone recommend something?
thank you

i have a sigm 500, and there is a mode that fires along with any other flash of light. it works well for me.
apparently, though, if you have two, you can put one on the camera, have that one as a firing or nonfiring and use it to transmit to others used as slaves

Do you know if you can use a photo cell to fire the sigma?

Probably Quantum Instruments is going to be your best bet for compatibility with both cameras for a portable "studio-like" setup with TTL.
Here's one of thier transmitters
Ofcourse you will need to get the appropriate flashes, recievers and such for that system. I hope that's a good starting place for you to start your research.

I personally would love to get a set of Quantum flashes. But in the mean time, what I use are the Canon flashes. I have a 580EX, 550EX and 420EX.
When I want to set up a "portable studio" (i.e. no power cords), I just put the 580 on camera, and position the 550 and 420 in the appropriate locations with umbrellas on. Set the 580 to master and the other two to slaves. And presto.
The really cool thing is that with this setup I don't have to think much about exposure. The camera and the flashes work together (thru e-TTL) to calculate the proper amount of flash from each one.
And even at that, it's a simple matter to adjust the intensity of each flash right from the control panel on the back of my 580. By adjusting ratios I can get more light coming from the side (which is what I usually want) with the 580 play the role of fill flash.
The only downside is... the slaves must be able to see the flash from the 580 otherwise they won't fire.

That sound really great, I think I'm going to borrow a few flashes from a couple of friends(hope fully they wont get mad when I never return them;D ) and check it out before I buy anything
