I have noticed a decline in forum activity over the last few weeks. Or at least what I have observed. Threads dropping of the front page quick and now I look at the challenges and the amount of entries seems to be low as well. Is it the time of the year? The challenges? Or what?

I've been out cutting grass after work and on weekends. My new home build is ahead of schedule and first insurance premium is due in December. It is VERY expensive here in the New Orleans area since the hurricane. I'm earning the money in the burning hot sun to pay the insurance.
Someone here (in New Orleans) actually bought one of my photos I had in my (current)house to help with the payment! (I really don't consider it a "sale"...or should I?)

Same types of threads over and over :( Just slightly different. People should set the forum in 30 threads in their preferences too as not to keep bumping after it gets past 10.

I'm really starting to get bored at DPChallenge. The user interaction was what made the site fun. Now it seems people don't even want to talk to much around here. Maybe it's just me. But something just don't feel right here right now. Even the SC seems (again my observation) to be away. What I mean by that is they use to be active in the threads and now you just don't see them much. Maybe they are having a lot of behind the scenes work going on.

Kids are asleep, wife is asleep. I guess I will grab my camera gear and go do some night shooting.

Those that have kids in the U.S, are taking last second vacations before schools starts back up in the next 2 weeks or so.

Wish that was true here. They started back to school on Aug. 7th. My oldest started today, yes Saturday because they did not have the renovation done in time. So now he has to go to school for eight Saturdays including the Saturday of labor day and has to go to school on labor day (Say good bye to vacation).

I think it is probably the time of year. I, for one, am super busy in the final weeks of summer, etc.

And to stay on topic, I'm right there with you. Things feel kind of different around here lately. Thought it was just me.... also, the last few challenges haven't been all that exciting to me.

The thing I notice is the WPL hasn't been what it was last year. For instance, Team Pentax was pretty feisty last year in the forums but then again they played well last year. This year they suck. :P Speaking of which does GIS Boy not post in the forums any more?

Let's see.. I got a full time 40-hour a week job and barely have time to look at my camera anymore. I tried hard for the first few challenges because lepidus wanted me to, and shoehorned anything I could and was annihilated in the scoring, but kept my head up about it anyway. I just don't have the time to worry about things like WPL anymore, and as much as I hate it, life happens.
Lepidus' camera busted and won't be covered under warranty.
GIS_boy has problems of his own, and while I won't mention anything out of respect to him and his wife, we at team Pentax are thinking of them and hope all the best. Their participation is secondary and non-important next to that.
Again.. life happens to the best of us. It's happening to a lot of other people as well. So yah.. we "suck".. but sometimes there are more important things in life than a side-bar photography fun event, ya know?

I was just thinking about this. As it stands now, I don't see myself renewing my membership when it expires in a few weeks. To me the member challenge topics have gotten more boring by the week. There were a few I enjoyed but for the most part I don't care if I enter them or not anymore. I usually do just because I paid to be able to do so.
