It appears there is still genuine interest in continuing the podcasts that I started a while back. I think I did three shows, one with an interview with Larus. I was still working out the style and format for the podcast when I intereviewed Rikki for an upcoming podcast. Due to a collection of mishaps, the next podcast never aired but I still do have a lot of interview material from Rikki to post and, at the time, I was working with Joey Lawrence to set up a time to interview him.
I'm interested in starting up the podcast again but need to resolve one small problem. I need to have a reliable place to host the mp3 files. If anyone can provide me a place where I can easily host the mp3 files then I'd definately consider resuming the podcast again. I did have fun doing them and apparently people had fun listening so why not get it going?
It doesn't look like DPC will host the files as they have shown zero interest. I say this in case some here might try and suggest DPC host the files. That would be the logical place to put them but I've already tried contacting them as well as several others and that avenue seems dead. Let me know if you have a place I can put the files and we'll work on resuming the podcasts again on a weekly basis. |

For DPC to host them, they'll have to be DPC sanctioned which would likely mean some kind of necessarily guidelines and then approval of each new file by the SC or Admins. It'd probably be better (and more fun) to find separate hosting as the other folks with side projects have done. |

What exactly are you after? Just some disk space or a url etc? I definitely can help you with storage. If anyone buys a domain name for (they're cheap enough) then I can host it and all for no cost for you. Otherwise no problem on giving you space and a simple way to upload them.

Yeah, I just have to have a place on someone's website where I can ftp the files up and provide a link to the file. If McDonald's had a website for example located at www.Ieatbigburgers.com and gave me an account and a place to store files on their site such as www.Ieatbigburgers.com/DPC podcast then I could ftp the files up there and make a link to it for people to play. It really doesn't matter what website it is, just so long as I can have ftp access to upload files somewhere on the the site and provide a link to them. You are correct that web domains are dirt cheap so maybe there is a DPC fan site already out there that would be willing to host the files under their domain name and server space? |

Let's pick a domain name then. It's only gonna cost me 10 bucks, I'll donate it and the hosting. We can keep it a really simple one page thing with just the podcast.
Pick a name.
dpcast.com
dpccast.com
dppodcast.com
dpcpodcost.com
and so on...

I like dpcpodcast.com if its available. I don't mind what its called if you're willing to set it up and host it. This could be really great. |

Consider it done. I'll send you info for uploading tomorrow sometime.
If anyone from SC reads this before then, could we use a couple ribbons and get the colors and font type to use for it at least?

Sounds exciting. Doesn't it take a couple of days for the domain to become active and such? I'll start working on editing that Rikki interview again. I think I might break it up into a part 1 and part 2 thing over two podcasts. Well, it looks like it's back to the editing room. |

Font is "Impact" I think. Only Drew or Langdon have access to the original ribbon graphics I think.

@truth: It can take up to 72 hours but I've never had one take longer than 24 or so. I've already registered dpcpodcast.com.
Are you picky about design and such? Security? Or just anyone that shows up can download the podcast?
Maybe you could email any design or functionality wants you are after.
@Konador: thanks. I could probably figure it out but it's nice to have the real deal.

I'm not picky about the design of the site at all. The actual rss feed that I would post on the forums were at www.dpchallenge.com bypasses the home page anyway. However, we might also want to include a link to the home page and include some "show notes" or schedule of upcoming interviews, etc, etc. The website could really enhance the podcast enjoyabliity. If you do want to use the front page to update news and information on upcoming podcasts then you'll have to design something I can provide input to. What website software do you use (front page, phpnuke, etc, etc?) Maybe I have experience with whatever you build your site with. Or, I could just email you any show notes and you could edit the home page for me. Will you provide me a username and password to ftp my files directly to your site? My podcast software uses ftp and does all the work for me if I have ftp access. |

You'll have full ftp access.
I use Dreamweaver.
I'm looking for a media blog type of thing to use so that you can upload, write up some brief about it and publish. And also allow for some interaction with visitors perhaps. Of course an rss feed etc too will be good.
Simple and effective. That's the way to go.

Sounds good to me, Sea2c. Thanks for making the investment of time and money. Hopefully we can produce something informative and entertaining. |
