It's interesting, but I prefer the real thing (snow that is)...

Same here - but last year in Columbus we had a total of maybe 15 days of snow - and none of it was pretty. So for now IR will have to do.

Hmmm...how does it look if you shoot a snowy scene with IR? Anybody tried it?

I'm having the same problem so I am looking at getting a gel to put behind the lens (the 17-40 has a holder for that). Lee makes one for about $17. Kodak also makes one at about $57. Before I shell out $300 I gotta make sure its worth it!

BTW - for those having a center spot problem with the Tamron 28-75, it seems to have disappeared using my 30D (its horrible on my 300D) so it might partly be a camera issue. Yesterday I shot a few IR and even a 30 sec. exposure at F4, ISO640 was tough. The 300D could do the same location at 20sec, F4, ISO400.

just a thought on the 300d... did you try covering the eyepiece? it might let more light in than the 30d... something to try.

actually, for everyone shooting IR, it's a good thing to try and remember to cover the eyepiece on long exposures...
