someone told me to do www.amandalore.dpchallenge.com for people to come see my profile... but now when I do that, it says this account has been cancelled
am I doing something wrong? I see my account, and I'm posting stuff, and when I do a link for user ID, I come up.. |

ok, that works.... much better, lol
why does it go to dpchallenge still? and then it's dpchallenge that says the account is not active? weird, I thought it would just say error or something if I wasn't doing it right... |

the first thing the Interweb (by which I mean Domain name servers) looks at is the domain name, i.e., the word next to the com. Even though you typed it wrong, you still put in "dpchallenge.com." That means it will go to dpchallenge.com. What happens there is up to the whims of langdon and crew.

Specifically usernames can contain periods in them, see?
So by using www.amandalore.dpchallenge.com you were telling the DPC server to look for a user with the name "www.amandalore" which doesn't exist. TADA! |

Why, yes they can! :D
However, the script does not work when they do, for example ...
//david.c.dpchallenge.com
:P
It looks to just check for the first period and use anything before that, so what it was actually looking for was the user 'www' which I suspect D&L have registered and then removed to keep anyone from using it.
