Hullo,
I thought I'd show off a commercial I created for a Real Estate Company in the United States. I was approached by a man who liked my work after seeing me win in the Bogen film festival. Anyway we came up with a concept, I shot it, edited it, got payed very well, and voila, here is the result.
Quicktime, 4.27mb
AVI, DIVX codec required, 2.34mb
It was shot with the video camera I saved up for with the Post-Processing DVD Tutorial money. (It's still available.) I thought I should at least fill you guys and gals in who have supported me on what I've been up to! Also, for those interested, the personal project about homeless people is still underway. I just did this for some extra money toward the SLR I am saving for.
I'd love to hear some feedback. Thanks!

WOW, Joey! That's awesome!! You are so creative, and you have a good head on your shoulders. I think it's great that you organized your talents with the Post Processing tutorial in order to raise funds to purchase the camera. It is also very cool for you to share it with everyone here. Keep up the good work.

I really wish I could see this at full rez. I would imagine everything just pops even more especially the sunsetting sky. From the way you captured the batters face just prior to the pitch, to the sound of the bat hitting the ground you seemed to have really captured the essence of the game.
The batter sliding into homeplate with his hand is the perfect climax to a very well done commerical. The drama of the movie is right up my alley of course. But I think it should appeal to a much wider audience. Please let us know how they like it.
Money well spent on that camera. I for one was glad to support you in this venture. |

So I guess it was an "inside the park homerun"?
PS-- Looks very pro.. nice work.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It looks 'pro' because I used a 35mm adapter for film lenses on my camcorder to get that DOF and 'look.' It was shot mostly with a 28mm prime.

Great video, I really like how you handled the soundtrack as well. Glad to see that our money was well spent.
Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing more of it. Maybe you'll have your first blockbuster before you are out of your teens. |

Nice job. Was the TV version a higher FPS? It seemed kind of low in the file(the quicktime one).
And what focal length is a 28mm lens on the video camera? |

A higher FPS? Mmm no, some parts were shot at 48th of a second at 24p and for the slowed down stuff, 120th of a second at 29.97 and then dropped down to 24p for the edit.
And you have to zoom in a bit to get a full screen of the lens adapter view, but I have no idea what the exact focal length is. This much *shows on hands. ahaha ;-)

Very good job Joey. But there are 4 areas of the video that takes away from the overall impact to me. I'm sorry but I know you would want me to tell you what i think. Even though I believe you have done a better job that most people and especially me could of done. With that said here are the four things that stand out to me as distracting.
1. Both teams wearing same uniforms. Should of been different.
2. The home run was an in-the-park homer meaning the ball had to go deep. The fielder fields the ball in short left field right behind third base. There is no way the runner could of made it around third from a ball hit that short. I believe in the place of the ball being picked up on a grounder coming from the infield it should of been coming from out field and the fielder (cutoff man) having to pivot toward home to try to throw out the runner at home.
3. When the runner crosses home it shows him running across home but then cuts to a forward leg slide where the arm clears the plate. I believe the video should of been a few frames short not showing the runner cross the plate running but show the slide instead.
4. If possible as the runner slides have it a real home plate but as the his arm passes over the plate it changes to the company logo.
I'm sorry for bringing these things up but I know you would want input. But no matter what I said you did a great job and the main thing is you got paid.
Congratulations,
SDW

I would have used 29.96 myself.
Nice work! :) |

does the 'homerun' ball hit the ground when the batter hits it?
Awesome video, that's for sure.

Good points! I'm not a baseball fan myself, or know anything about baseball so I'm a little bit naked in the dark when it comes to that. Thanks for the input.

The only real critique I have young joey is the powdered bags were a bit much. I saw clumps on the second bag when fine particulate is what you were probly after.
Awsome job other than that.
Look me up in L.A. someday, I'll buy you a beer (when your old enough that is.)

I found the add clearly amateur, the face of the runner was distracting and not life like
How ever You Joey are a true inspiration of what a clear head can do, much respect for your ambition and execution
I am sure you will go far and it wil be fun sayig 'ah this guy sstarted in DPC'
