Am I the only one who is confused as to what this challenge really entails? If I don't know steve, have never seen steve, have no pictures of steve, etc....how in the heck (want to use other words but this is a family site) am I supposed to enter this challenge? If I wouldn't have come to this thread i would have thought this was a nature challenge.

Sounds like we need a default pic of steve to use as steve for this comp one the SC will approve along with steve. so everyone has steve in their pic one pose one shot allowed to be used in any manor in one original pic of your own What do you think?

Look back in the thread. There is one posted, plus he sent us to his website with several poses. :~D

you don't have to have Steve in your photo. You can always improvise, or just be creative to imply Steve is in the location you "found him"

Dance Party Challenge

ok, everybody, DANCE!!

"um... what kind of dance?"

"is two-stepping allowed?"

"This is a salsa beat."

"No, it's a mambo!"

"What kind of shoes are allowed?"

Just have a good time!

"Define good."

"Define time. How long of a time?"

"Does the entire time have to be good, or can some of it be bad?"

"I've been dancing without having a good time. Does that count or do I have to start over?"

"Has somebody asked about shoes yet?"

So are you saying that if I named my squirrel StDavidson..I could have gotten away with this one without any DNMC's?

Slightly tangential, but not entirely unrelated:

This is just hilarious. Just reading about the challenge brightened my day - I can't wait to see the pictures. I already have one planned myself.

I imagine if your title indicated he had been transformed into a squirrel you MIGHT get away with it, however that isn't exactly what I meant. One exmaple: Eyes peering out from under a huge boulder....could be anyone's eyes....but could also be said to be Steve's (as long as they are the soulful brown eyes that Steve possesses.)

Hahahahahahaha!!!!

Damn, I wish I could get to Tina and Daryl's house to get a picture of Steve for the challenge... That would be so kickass!

I brought up the DPC homepage and thought I was hallucinating.

This should be fun...and a real tension reliever (err at least for us)...I read in the Rules that Steve has to vote on everyone....I think he should leave a comment too....even just containing his vote number, so that we can see what he thought.

Steve agrees we can use his picture but we have not gotten official confirmation from the SC that it's allowed. Without that, this could end up being as big a debacle as the "say cheese" challenge.

Personally, I read the challenge description as being more focused on the methods used to find him than on actually finding.

bump. Looking for clarification on the multiple image rule.

Oooooooohhhh, I just got a simple and great idea. The rest of you can quit now! :D

It's a bit of a quandary, isn't it? The challenge special rules state "Open Editing: no major elements rule." If it just said "open editing" then I'd say multiple images have to be fine, because they fall under the "Image Modification and Content" rule, but then why did they specifically say "no major elements rule"?

Here's the "major elements" rule: "However, using any editing tools to duplicate, create, or move major elements of your photograph is not permitted."

Therefore, we definitely CAN "create" major elements while editing... I suppose the real issue is...

(drumbeat)

"Is Steve Davidson a major element?" Assuming he is, can we create him? And if we Do create him, will his family like the new Steve better than the old Steve? jejejeĆ¢„Ā¢

But seriously, here's an interesting question: Photoshop allows you to create brushes and textures and such out of any image, and then apply them to any other image. Many such things are actually IN the program already, in the textures library. None of the provided PS textures, of course, are derived from images WE have shot; and yet, in this open editing we are presumably free to use them as we see fit. So, technically, is there any reason we can't turn Steve into, say, a brush, and then use the brush to paint him into the image?

Enquiring minds need to know :-) I like the idea of "Steve-as-a-brush"...

I think it depends on how many days he's been out in the desert ;)

This is the way I interpreted the challenge as soon as I saw it: You can cut and paste Steve from any of his current shots into your shot... I think I'm gonna submit an Admin Ticket for verification!
