Do you think that the tan mark on a model body is unestetic? Or can you make it sensual?

For example this photo:

Do you think it does not distract you from the model's face or do you think it shoud be "painted" in post processing?

What is you opinion about this issue?

I think it's a little distracting Nuno. I think people's eyes will go there and maybe they'll even comment on the tan lines...a little cloning in PS perhaps?

No expert of course, but I would say blend it in with the tan skin as they add nothing to the shot and are very noticable. Also blend the shiny cheeks for the same reason -- they pull attention from the model. The tan lines pull attention down from the face and the bright cheeks overpower the catchlight in her eyes.

Yes, I was affraid of this. I think that in some particular photos it can be very sensual guiding your eyes...

But in this kind of phot, book tipe I mean can be much distracting... Do you always clone this kind of markes out?

Nuno, I like the naturalness of the tan lines and yes they do guide your eyes...but I think if the photo was just for you, I'd leave it, but if it's for others, they will all look at them first...cloning usually does the trick here

I don't like the tan lines either - not sure how to fix, but cloning on 'darken' might work.

I find the shinyness of the face more distracting, and also the loose unruly hairs. Some can be cloned easily (forehead, right arm, left shoulder) but the one on the neck will be tough IMO.

Nuno, I played around a little in CS2. I cloned out the tanlines and darkened a bit to even things out. What do you think? I don't wanna keep this in my portfolio for long, since it's your image. I just want you to see it before I delete it. It's in my Worksop folder, so it wont show up in my profile page.

Thank's persimon.

This was a photosession for a daughter of a friend, a kind of portrait and book tipe of photos. I'll have this fixed in the final prints.

One's eyes are drawn to points of high contrast - the lightest areas first then the darkest. the lines on her are lighter than the surrouding area so draw one's eye. Assuming they are not to be the focal point, then that is a bad thing. Same for the shiny-ness on her face - she looks a tad sweaty or oily, and not in a sexy way IMO.

Have her sunbathe in the nude?
