I recently got up nice and early and went hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. Here are four photographs that I appreciate and wanted to share with some people...I have a lot of them, so I might add a few more as I edit. Here ya go...Actually the first one is in Boulder, but that is on the way to RMNP....

#4 and #2 are HOT! What trail was #4 on?

All of them are good. Left a comment on #4.

I want to get up to Colorado sometime and stay overnight, and shoot from a couple hours before sunrise until a couple hours after. Every time we drive through there, it's either mid-day and terrible light (not to mention the good stuff isn't along the highways), or I don't have my camera :(

Beau, you have a great eye for capturing a story within your photography. They almost look like colored versions of an Ansel Adams series. Would love to see them in B&W too.

It was on the way to Emerald Lake.

Sometimes I think about doing these in b/w, but color IS in nature, and it just isn't right to exclude it, I believe.

Wide Angle 10-20mm Sigma used in my profile for all shots..

#1 -- 200 ISO, f/10, 1/400th

#2 -- 200 ISO, f/7.1, 1/200th

#3 -- 200 ISO, f/9, 1/250th

#4 -- 200 ISO, f/9, 1/160th

I hope that helps. I always forget to put those things in there, and I learned most of everything I know about photography from DPC, and I must remember to give back too. So don't hesitate to ask.

What f/ do you find that lens to be sharpest at? I see you used mostly f/9-10, or was that just random?

When I am doing nature, I try to have at least f/8 for DOF. The shadows were a little bizarre with the early morning and mountain combo, so I will underexpose a tick usually, so I can play in RAW to compensate in the necessary areas. I shoot manual 100% of the time in nature. In action, I will with shoot in shutter priority.
