Well here are the first "real" shots since destroying my sensor trying to clean it! As you can see, these are fine. Of course these were cropped to where I like them. I didn't see the scratch on any of the "raw" shots and don't seem to see them on the edited ones!
That scratch isn't going to dampen my outlook. I'm keeping the D70 and may upgrade to a D80 near Christmas. Anyone looking for a D70 body for about $200?
See the original scratch thread here.

I'm glad it's not too bad Ken. As you mentioned in your other thread, atleast it's only appearing at certain f-stops and not where you'd tend to shoot most of the time!

I can help you add a few more scratches so you can get your D80 now, what do you say? :p |

I do just fine scratching it by myself !
Anyway...I don't think you can get a D80 before December!

Love the shots! :D
But can I play nerd here and say your cool confrontation shot is really of two wasps? Appears to be a yellowjacket annoying what I THINK is a giant hornet, Vespa crabro germana.
7th one down, or was
Apparently these giant hornets gather bark to chew into paper pulp for their nests. Cool, eh? :) |

Hmmm I don't see the yellow one on the website. I feel it was not a wasp though. It was short and stocky. I looked like a cross between a horsefly, honeybee and wasp!

I'm not positive, and insects aren't my strong point. But honeybees have specialised back legs, and the abdomen doesn't taper as much to the stinger. There are a few species of yellowjacket, but as I said, I'm not 100% sure I'm right. (Now please immediately forget that I EVER admitted to the possibility of being wrong on anything! ;) )
I would have loved to see the confrontation though :)

One more bump of my first Post scratch photos!
I really like the wasp shot. Even though it is not tack sharp, it is a neat shot!

And I love the DOF and colours in the spider shot. Yup, seems the scratch is a non-issue, thank goodness :) |

The spider was on a long leaf with other leaves and flowers and "yellow" leaves in the background. Came out nice.
