My Nikon CP5700 was stolen in March, so i have been out of commission for awhile. I've been agonizing over which camera to buy (I didn't want another CP 5700 due to frustration with the Autofocus).
I want a DSLR, but I'm not happy with the current offerings at < $2000. I want 8.0+ megapixels, and those are far over my budget right now.
I was considering a Canon G3 and the Sony DSC 717. I liked the features of the Canon better, but I want the 5.0 MP and better lens of the Sony.
I really struggled with the memory stick issue, but I just made my purchase on line at www.abesofmaine.com. I've dealt with them before and I was happy with thier service.
I paid $659 for the 717, which I thought was a great price for a 5 MP prosumer camera.
It's not the perfect camera, but I think it will be great until my ideal DSLR is under $2000, or until I win the lottery and can buy whatever camera I want without regard to budget!!
I look forward to competing in the challenges again...
Just waiting for that Brown truck now...

Nice camera, I may have handled one at some point (god my memory sucks, maybe it was at work) and it seemed very nice, though out of my price range tbh.
I never realised how popular this camera seems to be, must pay more attention to see how the photos come out. |
