Hi all
Thought I'd follow in other's footsteps and ask for help with a logo. I'm not sure I'll be renewing my own membership here, but am more than happy to pay for membership on behalf of the DPCer who can turn this ugly duckling into a swan:
It will be used for a maritime service whose website's main colour scheme is blue/white. Unfortunately, this is the only sextant image I have to work with and I need to somehow stylise it. I've tried inverting, adding transluscent glass effects, PS filters... etc etc... and can't seem to come up with anything I'm happy with. I'm looking for something clean and simple, but doesn't look like bloody clipart.
You're welcome to PM me and I'll give you my email or just plonk them here. I'll give it about a week and then post my decision (hope that sounds ok).
Ideas anyone? |

*tapping foot*
Hope they're not going to make me beg...
*confusion mounting, sniffs underarm*
Oh god, it's me, isn't it? :-O |

It's not you, it's me. Really.
Does it have to be that image or are you open to other images of a sextant? |

Ken, if you can lay your hands on a better image, I'd be over the moon! The one I have is just straight out of CorelDraw because I couldn't find anything else.
Thanks for any help with this! |

Will there be words that go with it? |

Not really, the business name will be positioned either above or below the logo image.
ETA: meaning that the business name will not be part of the logo. Kinda like a Nike thing, if that makes sense...

There isn't a big noticable difference between the last two but the last one has a bit more "outline" to it. I prefer 3 and 4 to the first couple, personally. If you want the Photoshop files just send me a PM. |

Thanks Dan and Ken, couldn't have sworn I checked istock but obviously not thoroughly enough. I'm a little iffy about MS clipart since it's so widely used, but I'm certainly grateful for the suggestion. Thanks so much guys! :) |

Kelly, thank you very much for taking the time to work on those! I like the idea of the flare, but not sure it'll work as a website logo which will end up about the size of the thumbnail. But I'll definitely give it some serious thought and get back to you. Thanks again! :) |

Ah, that makes sense about the size - definitely something that has a better impact at larger sizes.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity :-) |
