This can't be your last. These are beautiful and well done. HTe bride and groom should be more than happy with what you have done. You areer able to get very imtimate moments and add just enough artisic quailty to them to give the very romantic feel. Well done.

The softness in the picture wasn't a filter, it was actually a pretty long process to get it that way. It involves layers and everything. I'll have to make a tutorial on it.

from the looks of it, you did just fine.. more than fine.
i as a general rule don't do weddings, i'm too cautious about screwing up someone's day with bad photos/camera problems. maybe when i get 2 slr's and a few lenses i'll think about it.

I did this shoot pro bono because it was my first one, and the Father of the Groom was yelling at me like he was paying me $1000!!
"Get over here and take some portraits."
"Get closer in there."
"Do this, Do that!"
That is why I don't like weddings.

He's a jerk! ... Sorry if he is a friend too ;)
You will find that the less you charge the more problems you will have. Anyone who does $500 weddings is doing a disservice to themself. I've done it, never again. If you give it away or charge too little then they will watch you like a hawk does. Always directing and always giving directions. Charge a fair amount, maybe start at $1000 for a very basic wedding of four hours coverage. Do not tell them that you are nervous or that you've done only a couple. Show them your work, show them your confidence ... sign a contract that says they need to help when asked but not interfer with your poses and decisions. If you have a good portfolio and they like it then go for it. Weddings can be fun and can also be like you had. SMILE ;) |

Hey Loki, I shoot 30+ weddings a year. There is always an a**hole at weddings. If someone gives me sh*t, I pull them aside and set them straight. "I am NOT here for YOU, I am here for the bride and groom. Now back off and let me do MY job how I do it."
Don't give up because of cranky father.
BTW, she looks to young to be getting married!

the photos are beautiful and looks as if you did a really great job. Don't let the father get to you. As ericlimon said, pull him aside and tell him to mind his own business, in a tactful way of course. I looking to do my first wedding. And I know I will be nervous but stand your ground. Don't sell yourself short. You're on your way!!!!
BTW, I just looked at your portfolio....you are wonderful photographer!

You did well. They are a pain in the butt, but you learn to deal with the bridzillas and all.

WOW!! That was a LOT of great advice!!
I think I'll start doing weddings if I get myself a SB-800 flash and maybe a wide angle lens.
Thank you all for that, you really got my hopes up.
