The Utah State Fair is coming up soon, and I was hoping to get some opinions on different photos that I have, to see what I should enter. I can enter up to three, with dimensions of 11x14 or 8x24 (pano). Here is the selection:
1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9)
I would appreciate any comments on which photos to enter. Please also keep in mind that the dimensions, with the exception of the panorama, have to be 11x14, which would require some cropping on some of the photos and possibly make them not work for the entry.
I want to thank all for their comments before hand, and will return the favor 1:1. Thanks for the look!

Wow, these are some nice shots!!!! No wonder you're having a hard time deciding!! I really like 2, 3, 4, and 8. Yeah, I know that's more than three shots :-) But you have some seriously good work here! I like 9 quite a bit too, but I'm wondering if the landscapes might catch the eye better.
Are there different categories for this contest? |

| I'll start by saying that they are ALL amazing photos and you should be proud to enter any one of them ... but ...I love the shot of Lyle ... immediately drew me in ... Good Luck! |

Yes, there are. The categories are:
Lot Numbers (for Classes A-E)
1. Action
2. Animals/Pets (domestic)
3. Architecture
4. Artistically Manipulated
5. Commercial & Industrial
6. Creative Art
7. Flowers
8. Human Interest
9. Humor
10. Journalistic
11. Macro (close up)
12. Panorama (you may substitute one of your entries for one panorama - mount and print size to be 8" x 24")
13. Portraiture - children and babies
14. Portraiture - female/male
15. Portraiture - groups
16. Scenic - including âthe hand of manâ *see below
17. Scenic - excluding âthe hand of manâ *see below
18. Sports
19. Still Life
20. Unclassified
21. Wedding / Social Event
22. Wildlife - in the wild
23. Wildlife - in captivity
* (âthe hand of manâ refers to anything in the image that is man made - for example, a fence, road, structure,
etc.) |

well what do you win? our state fair is offering $7.00 to the first place. It's pretty pathetic considering our states wealth!

| Thank you all for the comments so far. It looks like number 8 is the overall favorite, with 3, 4, and 9 coming in close. So 8 will definitely be in. Now all I have to do is narrow down between 3, 4, and 9. |

| While I like them all, 1 and 4 are my overall favorites, followed by 9, 8 and 2. Good luck! |

| Well, I want to thank everyone for their comments. It looks like I'll be entering number 8: in the panorama category, number 4: in the children's portraiture category, and number 3: in the scenic excluding the had of man. Thank you to all for your help in this tough decision. |

From what I can tell (I only looked for a minute) ... Michigan doesn't even offer a photography contest ... might be time to move! |

That all kind of sucks! I've got to pay $7 per entry, but at least there is a prize of some sort if you do good. Although, last year I entered, and didn't win anything but a ribbon for an honorable mention on this photo:  |
