Hi everybody - I thought one way to meet you all and get to know who is who would be to introduce myself.
Obviously, I'm one of the new immigrant Peas... married, 2 daughters, 2 sons and a stepdaughter... very much a noobie to photography but trying to read everything I can get my hands on and then shoot even more then that. I live in Australia, on the east coast.
Oh yeah - and I look like Angelina Jolie (pfffft). |

Hi Renee,
I'm on the East coast of Australia too. Around the Melbourne area.
I hope yo enjoy DPC. I haven't had much time to be involved actively for a little while now but I still check the forums everyday or so. Its amazing how many times a topic comes up that relates to something I'm thinking about or shooting at the time. Its a great resource that way. There are so many people willing to share their knowledge and experience in all areas; technical, creative, personal, business etc. Its a great place.

Welcome to the kingdom of DPC, where you will soon learn that you must carry with you at all times the following objects:
a. A camera
b. A Sense of Humor
c. Always the Correct Answer
d. A camera
e. Extra batteries
f. A Camera (are you noticing a theme here?)
g. A sense of humor
If you have the above objects with you at all times you will do well here.
Just remember what we told you about Ken/ART ROFLMAO and that other guy. ;)

briantammy - Ummm.... NO! I wouldn't even dream of posting my photos here yet. You guys are all so amazingly talented!
margiemu - Yep, I'm a scrapbooker. It's winter here at the moment and freezing in my scraproom so I'm not doing much of that at all. I'm definitely loving the photography more at the moment.
guroos - None :o My hubby backs Parramatta though.
enigmania - I'm up in NSW. Orange? It's near Bathurst where the big car race is held. Very cold!
As for the items.

Not my first, but my second, in which I wrongly thought that adding noise would actually help my picture and never noticed that the lighting was terrible:

YES. Best way to learn is to do. Don't worry about scores. Do it for the learning experience. You'll be surprised by just how quickly you begin to improve.

You might get lucky like I did on my first go and end up in the top 10. (only to be brought back to earth when you realize you aren't THAT good.)
